PBS Newshour said that 48% of Americans said they feel a conflict between their religion and today's American culture. Up from 42% in 2020.

Do you feel such a conflict? Do you think it's gotten worse or better?

* or lack of religion, as the case may be

I consider myself to be a Christian, but not a church-goer these days.

Sp my "religion" is really just treating other people with respect, look for the good in things, follow the rules and be a good friend/neighbor/family member.

So, yes, I find a great conflict between my religion and US culture.

Yes. The price of chickens has gone through the roof. So cutting the heads off these things and then scattering them in playgrounds has driven our costs up greatly, creating much conflict for our sect.

28% is not "mostly".

It's much higher than that poll indicates, IMO.

80% of Americans don't attend Church weekly and most Americans don't even belong to a Church.

"According to recent Gallup data, the statement is largely accurate: around 80% of Americans do not attend church weekly; with only about 20% reporting they attend religious services every week or almost every week."

I don't know how any self-professing Christian can reconcile their faith with Trump but not only have many individually but corporately as well.

Many of them vote for Trump's policies instead of his personality. For example, the Supreme Court judges.

The Democrats are seen as the party of abortion, LGBT and secularism by many. Also, transgenderism.

The Democrats made abortion one of their main issues. Harris said in an interview she wanted to force Doctors to perform abortions without any exceptions for conscience.

Indeed, the cultural rot of feminists, homosexuals and transsexuals runs contrary to my faith/religion, however, this past election gives me hope. Normal people are tired of that bullshit, whether rooted in faith, or just common sense/decency.

I made a whole new thread about it last month. :)

That still doesn't make 28% a majority.

It's my estimate based on 80% of Americans rarely attending religious services plus the outright hostility to Christianity from a large portion of society.

If America has a majority religion, it's materialism, greed and selfishness, IMO.

This post could be written about me except for the last sentence. I don't find much conflict between my religion and American culture. The conflict is with the online or on screen world. That's not reality. People in this country are much better humans than what you would guess if all you saw was what is on a screen.

Of course religion and politics are in conflict. They aren't dependent on one another at all.

For example:

Church: gay marriage is sin.
State: gay marriage great, check married filing jointly box.

I'm certain Jesus would be against abortion and border walls.

Dems: Yay Abortion!
Rs: build the wall!

Jesus is pretty clear his concern is not with our man-made borders or cultures. He says if we choose to participate in it then we have to follow the laws of the land (give to Caesar what is Caesars and God what is God's).

It's silly when anyone says God and their political party are aligned.

Hint. There are religions other than Christianity. Muslims face more hostility than Christians.

While I agree that corporate worship is biblical, you claiming those who don't atrend are atheist, is wildly incorrect.

So, you have no issues with lying, narcissism, adultery, misogyny, intolerance, the lack of humility, etc.? Interesting faith you have.

Those are all sins as well, (with the exception of “intolerance”. Some things should not be tolerated) but no one is trying to normalize them.
