BLM was founded on a lie. If fact, it was founded on several lies.
Police are not systematically hunting black people. The statistics, based on interactions, do not support the claim.
We have a problem with incompetent cops. They shoot white people too. Defunding the police is counterproductive to fixing the problem.
Did anyone see the story of the Arlington woman who was shot in the chest by a cop? Unarmed, sitting in the grass with her dog. Cop approaches, dog barks and moves toward the cop, cop draws gun and shoots at dog. Misses the dog, kills the woman.
Did that make national news? I live in Dallas and I don't remember seeing it on the local news. Want to know why? Woman was white, cop was brown. This happened in November. The cop was just indicted last week.
My point being that incompetence is the problem, not racism. If, as BLM claims, black lives mattered, they'd be interested in tackling the issue that takes the most black lives. Exponentially more black lives are lost at the hands of criminals than cops.
If BLM as an organization were to address that, I'd be right along side of them.

My neighbor across the street is a State Patrol Detective with 3 daughters under the age of 10. Maybe you can come over and look him and his kids in the eye and repeat that.
He would, he’s got his marching orders.
“Raise your hand”

I hope a BLM sign in my yard saves me from the mob if they see my 70" flatscreen through my window. Is a BLM sign in your yard the modern lamb's blood on your door? Will we one day celebrate a secular Passover every year on the anniversary of the miracle of the angel sparing your first born?

The belief system? Wholeheartedly. Racism is an atrocious aspect of our world's society and it disgusts me at my core.

The political movement? Unsure at this time...still trying to sift through the mire of misinformation.

I agree with the idea but not the formal organization. I believe this is how most people feel.

I agree with the idea but I don't agree with their complete lack of formal organization. The organization that calls itself black lives matter doesn't come close to representing the movement.

Offensive? We treated blacks like shit for 400 years and you find it offensive? Lol Jesus.

"We" did?

And, furthermore, the world treated black people like shit....for more than 400 years. America's no different than everyone else in the world.... racism exists, it always has, and sadly, it probably always will.

All we can is gradually improve, which as a country, we have been. If it's not 'fast enough' for people they are going to consistently lead miserable existences because this is a slow roll to where we want to be.

BLM is just another compartmentalizing org, meant to keep divisions, not bring people together and truly solve all issues blacks face on a daily basis.

It's too bad there aren't any black people on this board to add to the discussion.
While I encourage people of any race to participate in this discussion, it does bother me when people think a black person speaking is like gold, or that black people are the only ones who should be talking now.

A black person can give their opinions and a personal account on how being black has affected them, this is no different for white people.
But to say an opinion has more weight because the speaker is black is wrong. Just like there are smart black people out there, there are dumb ones too. These are the voices that give blm a bad reputation. Just because you're black doesn't mean you are the spokesperson for the black race.

Yes we are different than everywhere in the world. Let's look at it this way...we were SUPPOSED to, BY LAW, stop treating blacks like shit only 55 years ago. There are STILL people in this country who think they should be treated as less than equal. Blacks are still treated like shit and have been set up to fail or in situations that make it more difficult to succeed. This all goes back to the centuries long systemic racism.

Isn't he too busy tailing a guy doing 66 in a 65?

I bet the ones who absolve themselves of any responsibility for their own society on this thread also love to go out on St. Patricks Day and pretend they are Irish. Claim it when its fun, distance when its not. Compartmentalize.

Nope and never have and here's why.... To support BLM is to accept the notion that people don't think they matter. I don't buy into that and don't buy into a "oh look at me" movement telling me they matter. It's unnecessary.

Bull.

You're telling me people and systems are no longer racist anywhere else in the world anymore except in America? How delusional.

Please explain successful black people in America? How did that occur? Because a white man "let" them? That's the insinuation.

Yep and anyone peddling that blue lives or all lives matter Bs can jump off a bridge.
Blue lives matter, Blue lives matter, Blue lives matter, Blue lives matter, Blue lives matter,
All lives matter, All lives matter, All lives matter, All lives matter, All lives matter, All lives matter.......

I can't help you. This has been discussed at nauseum. Choose to stay ignorant then. Or look up redlining. Or look up Jim Crow laws or what other bills/laws they were tied to.

You seem to come from the "they just need to work harder" side. You need to look at 350 years of history. Again, blacks weren't even considered equal until 55 years ago. You think THAT's enough time, after 300 plus years of the laws of the nation designed to keep them from gaining land or wealth, or having success, to find the same success, in droves, that whites have. Freaking figure this shit out. This isn't bull. Our system in this country was WHITE SUPREMACY for centuries.

Blue lives matter, Blue lives matter, Blue lives matter, Blue lives matter, Blue lives matter,
All lives matter, All lives matter, All lives matter, All lives matter, All lives matter, All lives matter.......
Hopefully those last dots were you falling off of a bridge.

I find the movement BLM to be offensive. as a white person I was not born racist and I will not accept fault or guilt for past racism.

I support good black people. I do not agree with defending black criminals who get killed. I also do not support killing criminals like derek chauvin did because of negligence or hate.

I support good police and hope we can find a way to eliminate the bad ones.
Go fück yourself. Weak ass.

I have not been alive for 400 years, the is no "we" in this. I have not treated any black people like shit. My ancestors helped free the slaves. I have 2 relatives who lost their life doing so.

You can think what you want about me, but I am not the problem. We have teachers losing their jobs for trying to make kids think about the consequences of slavery. If it is so taboo that you can't even discuss slavery, how can we get past it.
What you, and many others unfortunately, fail to recognize is the foundation of benefit your life is built upon because you were born white. That is a big, big problem today.

Very few cases are straight up police brutality. in most cases the people who got shot either committed criminal acts or resisted arrest, and many times fought through non lethal attempts to subdue the person first.

I don't like what happened to George Floyd. But most cases are not like that.
No, some of them are like Rodney King.

Suggesting their isn't a problem with police using excess force is naïve, at best. We haven't and don't hear about all the instances.

I absolutely agree with the statement "Black Lives Matter", but I don't blindly follow the movement as there are multiple tenets I simply don't agree with (most specifically the socialism and de-emphasizing of the nuclear family). I can get on board with the police reform aspect, but the very fabric of this nation was based on traditional Western principles and it disappoints me that so many people are willing to flush those principles down the toilet. It's not going to magically erase classism, sexism, racism, etc. Russia and China have long been the objects of criticism and ridicule.
