Does Drake get in if they lose MVC championship?

I've followed Drake this year, mainly because I am a fan of their coach. He's won a ton where he's been.

They have done about everything they need to do. Except with the MVC tourney. Bradley plays Drake tough. I would hate for Drake to miss out if they can't get it done tomorrow.

Is it win or miss the dance?

One reason good mid-major coaches keep climbing the ladder.

I think they need to win. Indiana State got left out last year with a Net of 28.
Certainly could. Just hope the committee dives deeper. The only reason their NET is so low is because they don’t blow teams out to run up their metrics and P5 wins like Miami and K State ended up not being worth much. But it’s definitely a concern.

I think it best Drake not leave it up to chance.

There's only one thing left to do ...

I don't. Lose to Bradley and they are in.
You would think so, but that's not how the NCAA treats midmajors. Drake needs to win, whoever the opponent is, and after today's scare, I think the Bulldogs come out focused and get 'er done tomorrow.

But Drake, at 29-3 right now, SHOULD be in no matter what. They deserve a tourney spot FAR more than another mediocre team from the BIG, for example. But history tells a different story. So that's the main reason I wouldn't mind expanding the tourney to another 16 teams so teams like Drake and Bradley and UNI and Indiana State get a chance to prove themselves without having to win their conference tourney.

I am sticking with my opinion that they are in with a loss to Bradley. 🙂 Hopefully they will win and take it out of the committees hands.

I wish you were right, but historical evidence says Drake will be bypassed for some major conference team that's 16-14 unless the Bulldogs win the auto bid. It ain't right. It ain't fair. But that's what has happened, and that's what will continue to happen as long as you have a stupid committe awarding major conference mediocrity at the expense of midmajor excellence.

Of course Drake should be in. But it won't surprise me if they're left out if they lose.

Count me as one who'd rather see a lower conference team like Drake in the field than the 11th place team in the B1G.
MVC is generally now a one bid league, but exceptions should be made if a team has a season like they did but gets tripped up in their conference champ game. I also thought indy state should have been in when they got left out after a great season.

Their kenpom ranking is 61. That's win to get in material. I don't know how shitty your schedule can possibly be to have that record and still be that low but they've done it. For perspective they're behind Penn State (59) and ahead of Iowa (74), lol.

I know it's just a website, but I feel his computer rankings are the best. His rankings usually identify over rated and under rated teams throughout the season and into the tournament.

They beat the teams on their schedule. Beat Vandy and KSU.

Oh I get that it's a quite a predicament they find themselves in. I can't remember a year where a lesser conference team had that kind of record and wasn't a lock. Their NET doesn't make them a lock either. To be one they practically have to be undefeated. I guess it's safe to say that after the MVC got poached for Creighton and Wichita State, and Southern Illinois regressed into nothing that the conference isn't even a mid-major anymore.

Pretty much this. After what happened to Indiana State last year it’s clear the committee doesn’t view the MVC as a two-bid league. Expect another close game today, both Drake & Bradley seem to be running on fumes.
