So, I've been looking at dog food and I discovered a brand called Pure Balance. Everything I've found on this food seems to be positive. The only negative I found, is it's a Wal-Mart exclusive. It is made by one of the factories that produces some of Blue Buffalo food. Anyone here had any experience with Pure Balance?

Judging by the price online you could go to Pet Smart and buy food at a better pound per dollar ratio. With the added bonus of not being in Wal-Mart. Afterwards you can head next door to target and get some benedryl to grind up into their food so your neighbor can get his required rest.

This is the only dog food an owner should ever buy. Start with the puppy version and move through the aging process.

I have not. After some brand experimentation, Gable is on Zignature and doing well.

This review says it's an average food. If the dog does well (firm poops, not pooping every time it goes outside, maintaining weight/energy levels, good skin and coat) then go with it.

It's a dog, it can survive healthily on table scraps and Gravy Train.

Indoor dogs get Iams and Science Diet.(each react a bit differently. See dead grass thread)

Outdoor dogs get Diamond.(higher calories for more active beasts)

I've tried many different brands and my dog will eat it regularly for a couple weeks, and then slowly get to the point where she won't eat it unless she's starving. I finally read about Wellness Core (Grain Free) and she's been on it for about 8 months now. The longest she'll go before eating it is a day and a half. Normally, it's gone the night I put it down.

She's healthy and her weight has been stable. I get it at Pet Smart.

I might look into that but man I've had good luck with the science diet stuff.

I live in the country and have a big dog.

Shoot a deer, drag it into the yard. When everything is gone just repeat.

Use the money you save on dog food for beer.

(If you have one of them yappy little dogs substitute rabbit or squirrel in place of a deer; helps to keep the scent of rotting carcass to a minimum) ;)

That is a interesting way of feeding your dog Clegg

Don't try to fix what's not broke. I needed to find something she'd eat and that was good for her. Wellness Core has worked pretty well. She wasn't a fan of Science Diet.

My dog eats Zignatuure too. Added bonus it is usually cheapest on Amazon so it comes to me.

I googled Clegg; he's a British pol from the Liberal party.

Other than that, since I'm at a loss to figure out what a Clegg is, I'm going with a Nordic hunter/gatherer god. ;)

I have a homemade recipe that I will try and dig up. Rice, chicken & green beans is all I can remember.
