Dog Urine Stains

Does anyone know the best way to fix dog stains on the yard. Our snow is gone, and when that happens, you always get to see the damage the dog does to the yard. And for a few people on here, sorry no pic of the dog

I've never worried about stains on my yard. I'm anxious to follow this thread.

Yes hire a local landscaper who can bring over a tractor and a large roto tiller attachment. He will need to bring fertilizer, black dirt, lime, mulch and grass seed. They need to pulverize the area, spread the fertilizer and dirt, roll the area then seed and cover with straw/mulch. They will need to keep the area moist till it germinates in about 21 days. In the meantime the offending mutt will have to be kept at bay. Total cost should run about 5K for the work. If it was me I would have the landscaper bring his wood chipper as well and toss Sparky in as well. Problem solved. See the other dog thread.

I have a cousin who has trained his dog to only go on mulched areas. That seems like a lot of work. I'm just happy mine pees outside.
I'm not happy that the snow is gone and the poop field has been revealed. Something for me to tackle on Saturday.

I wish I knew because I fight this every spring. I can find nothing to prevent it or easily fix it. Here is what I do:

1. Lightly rake the patches. If there is some green grass in there, leave it alone and it should come back.

2. If the patch is all dead, remove the dead grass and fill with black dirt.

3. If you have a healthy lawn and plenty of spring sunshine, that may be enough.

4. Encourage quicker repair with Scotts Yard Patch repair - seed and fertilizer mixture.

5, Next winter try to move the dog around more!

Doesn't your dog pee on the same spot? All of our dogs have been pretty territorial. The one male we had peed on the a/c unit and corroded parts of it. Each of our females have had a favorite peeing spot as well. I just live with the dead spots. The pee keeps killing the grass, so why worry about it in the Spring?

Wait, I did not deem stains to = dead spots. That's a grass of another color.

Change your food.

Whatever you're using is too rich and your dog is passing through a bunch of proteins, vitamins and minerals its body doesn't need.

Come down a shelf.

Save some money and your grass.
