Elon and company don't move as slow as the federal government is accustomed to. They're actually useful. This audit should be quite simple in theory as well.

Even if you eliminated every federal department except defense, you still wouldn’t save $2 trillion per year. If they truly want to make a meaningful impact, they should prioritize the largest expenditures. The interest burden alone is crushing taxpayers daily. Direct spending and defense should be the primary focus—not insignificant pet projects.
Seems to me that a weeks time to validate nearly half a trillion in gold is worth the exercise, especially since elon isn't taking a pay check for this work.

The “audits” being done at all of these places is a list of questions electronically asked and then getting the data/responses. Looking at money out and money in, who’s receiving funds, pay grades of employees, years of service, and things like that. They are then taking this information without any context and making social media posts of claims of what was found when they aren’t really sure it’s accurate. Example most of the GOV employees who took buyout are those who were retiring anyway and now get 7-8 extra months of pay and benefits. Or the Gaza condoms that weren’t real. It’s all a farce. If they really want to find FWA… look at the military contracts…. Look at military spending… look at military equipment inventories… shit tons of FWA to be found. Yet they haven’t touched that with a ten foot pole.
