If ever there was a time to take advantage of this option, it's now. We're going to be really thin (even more than usual) inside next year. Granted, you can't take just anybody...they have to be a good fit. But if Fran doesn't at least give it a shot, he's not using all the available tools to build his team.

Maybe so, but can you argue that he's not right about the transfer situation? The B1G is going to lose a lot of great players this year, and every other team is going to be looking at transfers and trying to improve their lot. Can we afford to play a pat hand?

There has to be mutual interest. You can bet that if a transfer player who could help Iowa was even remotely interested in coming here that McC would be on it.
