Trump Jr said his father was considering his options "given how the media has behaved."

"We had the conversation about opening up the press room to a lot of these independent journalists," he said. "If the New York Times has lied, they've been averse to everything, they're functioning as the marketing arm to the Democrat party, why not open it up to people who have larger viewerships, stronger followings?"

I remain very surprised that journalists haven’t done what doctors and attorneys did when faced with credibility issues. Create a standards body like the bar association or the AMA. One of the principles of journalism should be to remove any inherent biases in the news reporting to restore public trust.

News programs that only use credentialed journalists get to be called “credentialed news” or whatever catchphrase can be policed to explain the certified practices they follow. The rest don’t have the right to use that label.

Make any proceedings public. If a journalist doesn’t adhere to standards they are disbarred and the findings are made public. Seems straightforward. FoxNews might only have 2-3 people clean enough to pass such a standard. CNN somewhat more, but nowhere close to all of them.

I agree, although I think these orgs could do both: have the opinion shows, but clearly articulate they are opinion shows and reserve the news shows to folks who are accredited/pass a bar style exam.

I am curious what @torbee thinks about doing a bar-style accreditation.

I think such a system would be ripe for abuse. The Trump administration, for example, would certainly attempt to turn it into some type of loyalty test.

Just wait until CNN mysteriously is denied press pool coverage, or a spot on the traveling press gang for major overseas trips. Just wait for any organization that prints anything unflattering is booted from the WH. Just wait for the spittle splattered press events where Cheung and Leavitt berate a journalist just so Don can watch from his office and fap himself blind.
