Schools, colleges and states that require students to be immunized against COVID-19 may be at risk of losing federal money under a White House order signed Friday by President Donald Trump.

The order is expected to have little national impact because COVID-19 vaccine mandates have mostly been dropped at schools and colleges across the United States, and many states have passed legislation forbidding such mandates.

The order directs the Education Department and Health and Human Services to create a plan to end vaccine mandates for COVID-19. The agencies are asked to identify any discretionary federal grants or contracts going to schools that violate the order, and remove funding “to the maximum extent consistent with applicable law.”

“Given the incredibly low risk of serious COVID-19 illness for children and young adults, threatening to shut them out of an education is an intolerable infringement on personal freedom,” the order said.

Our college has never ever required any vaccination, except in the context of health students going to clinics in hospitals that require the vaccination.

That would be pure Trump though. Because we enforce a hospital mandate, or the students can’t go to clinics, we lose federal funding.

Operation Warp Speed to develop the Covid vaccine was probably the biggest accomplishment of the first Trump administration. I don't understand how not taking it became part of owning the libs. Somehow everything that the public hated about Covid mitigation efforts has been attached to the Democrats when it was Republicans that were in charge.

Somehow everything that the public hated about Covid mitigation efforts has been attached to the Democrats when it was Republicans that were in charge.

There are members of the population that were/are highly at risk IF they caught it. Hence, the speed required to help protect them. (At the time nobody knew it wouldn't prevent getting it, or prevent spreading, just making the effects less). But requiring very low risk or no risk groups to take something that wasn't even fully tested (and still isn't) does border on criminal.

That sounds like a reasonable take, but this has become an anti vac movement that includes even the most successful and well studied vaccines. People have and will die because they now view vaccines in general as some "liberal" conspiracy.
