Think how bad it will be if he loses. The only motivation he has to spend time on covid now is the election. Once that is over, it's going to be 24-7 grifting and live tweeting at tv shows.
If he is "officially" contemplating an administration position of, and considering implementing herd immunity, it is time for law enforcement to get involved if the Justice Department won't. This is literally introducing huge portions of the populations to deadly viral infection. I can't imagine there has been a example on which to base a legal argument.

When he loses and the protections surrounding him dissolve you fans will learn some hard facts. This POS will be the subject of many criminal and civil actions. Barr has been his buffer. His attitude and behavior preclude any protocol normally extended to former presidents.

Herd immunity is a legitimate strategy. Vaccines are based on herd immunity. But, (a) herd immunity assumes ... well, immunity. We don't know that the COVID virus immunity lasts more than 3 months, and (b) f that's what they're trying to do ... the way they're doing it is criminal. They should indicate that's the plan and make plans for 'high risk' individuals to remove themselves from the 'herd' for the period.
Where is that # coming from? Many countries did nothing and/or chose herd immunity yet none of them have "millions" of deaths.
Math. The fist number you need is the population of the US. Then you need the percentage of the population that needs to get the disease to reach herd immunity. Then take that percentage of the population and you will have the number of cases we will need. Next you need the kill rate of the virus. Apply that to the number of cases you got above and you will know how many people will die to achieve herd immunity.
My calculations say a herd strategy would kill between 2-6 million. Of course we could achieve herd immunity via a vaccine too. That would kill substantially less, but not zero. It will also require that we be patient for another year.
Please let us know what your numbers show.
Nobody has achieved herd immunity yet. We're not even 100% certain that immunity from COVID-19 lasts for more than a few months. I'm very happy that the death rate has fallen - it's very clear that we've learned a lot about treating this virus. That said, the death rate overall is still roughly 2.5x higher than the flu.
As stated earlier, if herd immunity is the strategy, then there needs to be organization around that strategy beyond simply turning public spaces into COVID parties. If the WH is publicly saying one thing and privately doing another, then they're not making any attempt to do this in a safe way and hundreds of thousands could die as a result. It's irresponsible and it's wrong....which is what this administration does best.

'Flatten the curve' meant trying to keep healthcare resources from being overwhelmed. Not stopping it from working through the population.

🤷♂️ You can vote for the guy who has made it clear that he's not interested in putting together a plan that serves anyone other than himself or you can take a chance on the other guy.
As stated in this thread, that is one valid strategy option - but if it's the one you're going for, you need to be out and open about it. You make it clear that you're not going to do anything in terms of public measures to stop the spread and you be clear about the lack of a viable vaccine and you make it clear that those at most risk need to take precautions on their own (and to that end, a good public policy would involve setting up programs to ensure that those hunkering down to let this pass through the masses are getting what they need in terms of food, supplies and medical care in a safe way.
Instead we get "vaccine very soon!" and "it will disappear" and all the rest of the BS he tosses around.
It's really not. The pandemic will kill hundreds of thousands if not millions before it passes and Trump is doing the one main thing that you should not do if you want to avoid it.
