I just found that interesting . . . naw, I found it disgusting. Instead of the Huskies clearing their bench and letting everyone play like Iowa did, they kept the starters in and really went after Iowa's deep reserves. What the hell?

Of course, that late-game strategy did turn a 40-point loss into a 24-point drubbing, so there's that . . .

But after a bit, Iowa's reserves sorted themselves out and played well, getting behind the press for a few easy baskets. So great for them. As for Washington, I hope they don't win another game, and I'll be looking forward to seeing them in Iowa City at some point.

As a coach, you put your starters back in to make a point to the other coach. There is not problem playing your starters at the end of a game like that if you are losing. But.... to press like that and foul were bush league tactics.
Mostly agree with you, but I'm glad Jan did not put her starters back in. I'm glad she let the reserves have 4 minutes of playing time. They deserved it, and they did finally figure out the press a bit, but you're spot on that it was "bush league" by Washington.

Totally agree that was a bad look for UW.

I would have had zero issues if the game was still around 15-20 pts but they had zero chance of coming back so like OP said it surely looked like they just wanted to make the score look a bit better at the end.

Weak sauce there. I would be pissed if I was player 9-15 on the bench. A blowout is the only chance you have of getting on the floor.

If Tina Langley thought pressing was a good idea, maybe she should have started that a little earlier, like the first quarter.

Not this year. We don't play anyone twice except Nebraska I think...
