Yes and that ladies and gentlemen is why you red shirt guys. Hall looked like High school wrestler against a seasoned College wrestler. Hall is the better wrestler for sure. Just not physically developed at this point and time.Hall needed another year to grow into 174. Glad Cael burned the shirt, one less year of a developed hall. Nice win Meyer!!!
Hahahahaha
He really looked physically good - he just go schooled by a SR. Maybe you meant psychologically developed.Yes and that ladies and gentlemen is why you red shirt guys. Agree with this. Hall is a phenom and may be able to overcome the size disparity, but Meyer absolutely dwarfed him, and his strength and gas tank were just too much for Hall. I love Meyer's toughness and appreciate the heck out of him, but there are more elite 174-pounders out there with very good size for the weight class. Hall's going to have his hands full with the "big boys" at 174. I expected him to cruise at this level, and he'll certainly have a great career, but there's no doubt he's undersized at 174, and I think that will take its toll in March.Hall isn't big enough for 174. He just isn't. He will get worn down at Nationals after three days and I doubt he can win with technique alone.
I'm not saying he won't AA, but he's a mid to low AA, at best.
I forget, what D1 school are you heading up these days?He could have gotten this trial after being put in the lineup last week. Bad move by Cael.
First time big match fade out for Hall. He will be fine. He took Crutchmer apart at the Scuffle. Not as much pressure when they don't count yet.
I'll agree not to discuss or give opinions on things outside of my profession as soon as you agree to do the sa... on 2nd thought, nope. This is a forum used to discuss such things.I forget, what D1 school are you heading up these days?
That's my point. He very well may win Nationals this year, but I'm a little skeptical about his ability to run off 5 straight matches at 174, given his relatively small size for the weight class. He clearly has the talent, but I was surprised at how small he looked next to Meyer, who's not necessarily a huge 174.Hall will be fine. I do think he needs a year but he will prob mid to low AA. He just was getting horsed from mid match to the end.
Shhhh. Hall hasn't done anything since high school. His one loss by 2 points to a stud SR makes him a failure for life. It's not like he won the Scuffle....
Iowa fans reduced to moral, meaningless victories. Sound like Pitt football fans.
There's a huge difference...Stieber got hurt the very first week of December, and hadn't wrestled enough to hit the 30% threshold ceiling for a hardship waiver (read: medical redshirt). Any potential injury to Hall at this point would be in the third weekend of January, past the mid-point of the season (this is the key for him), and therefore he would not be eligible for a hardship waiver. (this is the same rule that will get Sam Stoll...too late in the season)There is still the route of medical red shirt for injury. Didn't Stiebler have 4 or 5 losses wiped off his record after wrestling varsity freshman year but granted a medical red shirt after an injury? Thus the mulligan even though red shirt had been pulled?
Sorry I was being facetious or lame attempt but came accross as a dumba$$.There's a huge difference...Stieber got hurt the very first week of December, and hadn't wrestled enough to hit the 30% threshold ceiling for a hardship waiver (read: medical redshirt). The question is what does it mean to "question" Hall.Anyone questioning Hall is going to be eating crow - soon. What I saw was an absolutely brilliant takedown and finish by Meyer. Hall is a world class counter wrestler and Meyer just showed how frickin' good he can be. But . . . he's still Meyer, so who knows what's next.
I'd go way easy on Hall. He's going to be a great wrestler. And, amazing as this sound, Meyer is so unpredictable and goofy that he's a bad match up for Hall. Plus Meyer finished so well last night that Hall could not counter.
As for Cael's decision, remember he pulled McIntosh's redshirt in 2012 and got 1 point at the nationals. Without McIntosh Penn State only wins that year by 24 1/2 points. Brilliant!
Regretfully I think you are correct. Hall can make things look just so easy. It's over now, no my hype or questions. It is one thing to fulfill high expectations, but the expectations some had for him... have been completed by how many? How he responds at Bigs will be telling. I hope Meyer takes this and runs with it. Meyer can beat and lose to almost anyone. He needs to start stringing wins together and let it fly.Anyone questioning Hall is going to be eating crow - soon. But Marinelli will be at 165, and Hall doesn't want any part of him, so he's trying to grow into 174. Can't say I blame him.I see Hall similar to McIntosh's 1st year. Technically solid but forced to wrestle up a weight. I see him finishing anywhere between 3-R12.
I'm not sure Hall has the frame to develop into a full size 174. He'll be a good one but he may end up always undersized for the weight. His ideal situation is probably at 165.
I would be willing to make a wager he is not in the top 4. He's a AA but not in the top 4.I get ya. Hall was thrown into the Carver fire tonight but he will be top 4 in March. This should do wonders for Meyers confidence though.
Hasn't Pitt beaten PSU two straight in football?Shhhh. Hall hasn't done anything since high school. His one loss by 2 points to a stud SR makes him a failure for life. It's not like he won the Scuffle....

PSU wins five NCAA titles since 2011 and the Gableites believe Cael is wrong for wrestling Hall.
Fanatic forums are hilarious and Iowa is the tops!
The question is what does it mean to "question" Hall.
I don't see anyone doubting that he's a phenomenal young wrestler. I do see merit in questioning the odds that he ends up a 4x national champ, which many of us probably anticipated. I know I did. 4x AA? Pretty much a guarantee, barring injury. Multiple national champ? Very likely. 4x national champ? I think he'll have his work cut out for him this year. Could he still win it this year? Obviously.
If by "questioning" you mean doubting that he's as good as advertised, then you have a point.
They were already in the "drivers seat". People act like losing Cortez somehow tipped the wrestling world scales upside down, and to that I say LOL!That's still better than what Morelli would give. Cael just put PSU in the drivers seat. I totally get that you don't like "Carl" but calling it a mistake is laughable sour grapes.
Meyer earned it for sure. Hall will be just fine.
