so not only are you a douchebag but you’re pretty dumb too
Endless dumb to post, and just shows how stupid, pathetic and selfish people truly are brushing it off. Despicable and Deplorable as Hillary told us, proven by the hour of each day.

There are lots of studies re: herd immunity. Paul is hardly ‘alone’ in his belief.
The thing is that cell mediated immunity, I. E. T cells might be significantly more important than humoral immunity, I. E. B cells and antibodies. This is also a fact that sars1 has shown us. So herd immunity in that sense is completely irrelevant. In fact, high levels of antibodies might even result in higher morbidity and mortality due to antibody dependent enhacement.

Tony Fauci was my graduation speaker ages ago and I've worked with his agency in the past. He's a humble and brilliant man who could be an ahole but isn't and being stretched thin. Rand Paul is a village idiot who wasn't good enough to practice ophthalmology and can't master basic facts in virology and immunology.

I don’t get why people would call out Fauci, unless they are incredibly educated and informed on the topic. But it seems that most people spouting off are not

A pre-existing immunity instead of herd immunity?

•But T cell studies allow for a substantially different, more optimistic, interpretation. In the Singapore study, for example, SARS-CoV-1 reactive T cells were found in SARS patients 17 years after infection. “Our findings also raise the possibility that long lasting T cells generated after infection with related viruses may be able to protect against, or modify the pathology caused by, infection with SARS-CoV-2,”8 the investigators wrote.(https://www.bmj.com/content/370/bmj.m3563)

Perhaps you can point me to this study that Fauci was referring to:

"There is a study that recently came out that pre-existing immunity to coronaviruses of the common cold do not cross-react with Covid-19"

Thanks, but that "study" was 1st published on May 18th and updated June 23rd and still has not been peer-reviewed. Nor does it address T-cell Immunity which is specifically what Sen Ryan was addressing.

Hardly recent... and kind of loose with the facts, no?
Just a hoax anyways per Dear Leader.

So Donald Trump was wrong or lied about some 6 months ago, so we now get to lie in perpetuity?

Does it not embarass you that your main argument to everything is "Trump lied about ____" so whatever I spew now matters?

Rough life, brah.
He's why this country is a shit show and a global embarrassment in our pandemic "response" and why we are in this mess still now at this level.

The Heroic CDC Insider William Crews Ripped Anthony Fauci and the CDC

A public-affairs specialist at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases will retire after revelations that he used a pseudonym online to savage the government response to the covid-19 pandemic — including the work of Anthony Fauci, who heads that agency, an NIAID, reports The Washington Post.
William Crews told NIAID officials he will retire after the Daily Beast revealed he is also the managing editor of the conservative web site RedState.com, where, under the pseudonym “streiff,” he has ridiculed the government’s activity against the coronavirus outbreak, according to the NIAID spokeswoman.
Under the pseudonym, Crews wrote that Anthony Fauci was a “mask nazi” and described him as the “attention-grubbing and media-whoring Anthony Fauci.”
“I think we’re at the point where it is safe to say that the entire Wuhan virus scare was nothing more or less than a massive fraud perpetrated upon the American people by ‘experts’ who were determined to fundamentally change the way the country lives and is organized and governed,” Crews wrote in a June post on RedState.
“This whole thing has been a total fraud, insofar as the policy response to Wuhan virus, from day one,” he wrote in June. “There has never been a need for a lockdown. There has never been a need for wearing masks.”
“When the smoke clears on this Wuhan virus tragedy (and I mean the tragedy of the working men and women of this nation who have seen their livelihoods and life’s work and, sometimes their actual lives destroyed by the unreasoning panic inflicted upon us by the public health nazis), one thing will become blindingly obvious: the nation and the Trump administration were failed at every turn by the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Dr. Anthony Fauci,” Crews, under his pseudonym, wrote in July.
“A government that can force you to wear a purely symbolic face mask in a prescribed manner can make you wear a yellow Magen David and get on the boxcar,” Crews wrote in July.
“I have worked in the CDC and seen the politicization up close,” he wrote in July. “It is a hotbed of progressive activity. It also has more than its share of idiots. And 90% of the people who work there should be named Karen. They desperately want to manage your life.”
As of 2018, according to a former RedState editor, Crews was among the site’s most widely read contributors.

People call out Fauci, not because of his credentials, but because of his recent track record. Yes, it's a novel virus, and we've learned more as time goes on. A prudent person would be cautious about giving expert opinions without having enough information.
