Think Carl has a draw for the starting weight? Seems like he has been pretty traditional in the past starting at 125. Could give Iowa momentum though. Probably a smart move for him to draw, but I'm guessing we start at 125.

Don't Tom and Carl always start at 125 when possible?
Id rather see them start at 197 and let brooks and nickal toss each other around with the winner taking the dual for their team.

Unfortunately, 3 of Iowa's top guys are decided underdogs, at 149, 157, and 184. Add to that PSU being a heavy favorite at 165, 197, and likely a favorite at Hwt. Two tossups at 141 and 174 leaves Iowa as a favorite at just 125 and 133, and 125 could be close.
Hoping for some upsets.
No way in hell they draw. Pretty sure we would have seen a draw a few years ago when we went McD vs Mega, then Ramos pinned their guy...2 years in a row!

I doubt it. If he's not 100% why send him out there against such a good opponent? If the dual is out of hand I think there is zero chance he goes.

I don't expect to see him tonight or against OSU. I've been wrong before, and hope to be wrong this time.
I agree if the dual is out of reach there is no point putting him out there if he isn't 100%. Even if it comes down to 285 I figure Brands wouldn't put him in there just to win the dual if he isn't 100%. Far more important to have him ready to go in March then tonight. Question is will he be 100% in march?
Despite my dislike for Carl he seems to be a traditionalist and seems to have a respectful relationship with Brands. They start at 125.
If Penn State had an opportunity to lose this dual then Carl would certainly entertain drawing. Since they don't, they'll be starting at 125.
I think his track record is pretty solid at not drawing anyway, but he's had some pretty good 125 lbers so not earth shattering stuff.
