Morgan is actually committed to Columbia, not U of M. Former Gopher Joe Nord coaches there now.

Team USA
113: Danny Vega vs Ethan Cota (Augustana)
120: Jack Mueller vs Victor Gliva
126: Kyle Norstrem vsAdam Hedin (St Cloud)
132: Taylor LaMont vs Jamin LeDuc
138: Brent Moore vs Mitchell McKee (Minnesota)
145: Carter Happel vs Brock Morgan (Columbia)
152: Mason Manville Vs Griffin Parriott (Purdue)
160: Daniel Bullard vs Lucas Jeske (Minnesota)
170: Alex Marinelli vs Mark Hall (Penn State)
182: Nick Reenan vs Taylor Venz (Nebraska)
195: Ben Darmstadt vs Keegan Moore (Oklahoma State)
220: Matt Stencel vs Kevin Kneisl (NDSU?)
285: Osawaru Odighizuwa vs Andrew Piehl (Navy)

Lot of firepower in the dual

Agreed. Minnesota with a nice crop of seniors this year. 182 probably getting overlooked, but Venz-Reenan may shape up to be a very nice match also.

Funny story: My Dad, in his retirement years, works as a Walmart greeter down here as a snowbird for extra money. He is a friendly guy and strikes up conversations with folks. One day, he sees this kid walk into the store, notices his cauliflower ear, and says "You must be a wrestler." The kid confirmed it and says he wrestles for Ironwood Ridge. My Dad asked him if he was any good and the kid laughed and says he is decent. Anyways, they had a good conversation about Iowa wrestling and that my Dad had been to the NCAAs. Dad said he seemed like a good kid and that he was a lightweight.

I showed my Dad a picture of who I thought it was...sure enough, four time state champ and Fargo champ, Danny Vega.

I often forget you're from AZ, lol, because you're an Iowa fan. Is Anthony Leon still the HC of Sunnyside? I know there were some issues a bit ago, but can't find any info that tells me if he is currently still the head coach there.

It's the time of year that we start reaching out to teams without Sunday or travel restrictions from across the country for next year's Escape the Rock. Sunnyside would be one of those teams, they have a few kids coming back next year that could compete. Long shot with the travel, but I like to cover all the bases and I don't think AIA has any competition point rules so they could fly up a few kids if they had the finances.

He is and they would be a good addition. So would Ironwood Ridge, Mesa Mtn View, and Seton Catholic.

It seemed that Ironwood and Mesa Mtn View would be losing a lot of seniors who would be their only candidates to get high on the podium. Have not checked out Seton Catholic - I will. Will also take another look at Ironwood and Mesa.

Sounds pretty average to me.

Venz has been wrestling up all year, due to Hall being at 70. Venz projects as a 165 in college. Reenan is light as well it I still think has a slight size and strength advantage.

It would have been very impressive for Alex to wrestle in the Ohio state tourney at the same time as this event, 10+ hours away.
Well if he is as good as everyone thinks it would be no big deal.

My bad. Jumped the gun on this one.

To be fair, Alex did tech fall Chuck Norris with both hands tied behind his back.

I don't think overcoming the time/space continuum would be much of a problem for him.

I have doubts about Venz wrestling 65 for too long in college, still growing. Great kid and I hope he does well.
