We’ve got to say to the gun lobby, you know what, there is a constitutional right for people to own guns. But there’s also a constitutional right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness that enables us to have a safe country where we are able to protect our children and others from this senseless gun violence.” – Hillary Clinton in Hillary Clinton on guns: ‘A constitutional right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.’

Constitutional rights? Uhhhhhh...ok, Hills. Not to mention, if she really thought life was a right guaranteed by the constitution, wouldn't that mean she would have to be pro-life or anti-constitution?

Her quote is dumb but I am not sure I would bring abortion into it.

She says a lot worse than that.

I'm not sure what the op's point is. Can we not limits rights based on the safety of others? Speech that is viewed as dangerous to public safety can be criminalized.

"Can we not limits rights"

no, we cannot. but the supreme court can make up new, fake rights

In the history of the world, there has never been a single government that has not used its military against its own people. When the USA starts unleashing its weapons against us, I want the ability to use an AR15, otherwise I may as well be throwing rocks (comparative to the US armies arsenal).

I read the title and saw who the OP was, and I immediately knew which candidate it was. It's getting pretty predictable. Donald Trump and Marco Rubio on the trail, and this is the most dumb statement? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight!

Hate to break it to you, but your AR won't do jack against a drone. If the government was truly interested in destroying its own people, an idea that is quite ridiculous when you think about it, ARs are like rocks compared to the military's technology.

I took the thread title to mean that we all know HRC is going to be our next president, and this is her dumbest quote.

I have an AR15 myself. And I quite like shooting it at steel targets. I firmly believe that I have a right to possess it and shoot it in a safe environment.

But to think I'd ever be able to do any harm to the United States military with it, is laughable at best. There may be some people that have bigger guns and know how to modify them to be (illegally) fully-automatic, but even those people stand no chance should the US military come after us.

Now, the odds of the US military ever going after us are very slim. But let's say someday there is an enemy force that "takes over" the US. They will find that we have a Fallujah-like spirit in every town and it won't be easy for them to march through the country (unless they just want to kill us all, in which case again my AR15 will matter little against their bombs, fighter jets, and tanks, etc.

I think everyone is overlooking that it's dumb because "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness" is from the Declaration of Independence and not the Constitution. And it's incredibly dumb to think that somehow, somewhere, those things are promised in the constitution.
