Got the game on the 19th and immediately started dynasty mode. Need a thread to collect all y’all’s thoughts and experience of the game.

My thoughts:
- Mrs. Dragon forgot this game existed and has no clue how intricate recruiting mode is so I started messing with her. Got up and left the dinner table and said I had to “DM a recruit.” She gave a proper WTF look. Now I’m stressing her out blabbing on how my top QB recruit is visiting Mizzou this weekend and I need to take a few minutes to check his social media

- Varsity mode to start and ease into it. Troy took me to OT. Probably should have blitzed a little more. Have a feeling that game in real life this fall will be scary.
- Almost won at the ‘shoe playing hardcore time of possession and running it down their throats that would make Kirk jizz and Tressel blush. CPU gave the Buckeyes a late TD drive airing it out to win 14-7 after being held to < 100 yds passing all game.
- RPO has been tricky to get some consistency. Brian must have screwed these kids up royal…

Whatchu got?

I started out as the O-Coordinator for Iowa. I want to make my bones and cut my teeth before moving up to a HC gig at some bottom feeder school and turn them into Alabama 2.0. For right now I'm only playing offense to speed things up, but will play D for key moments.

A few things I've noticed

1. Screens and PA are tough. I'm about 6 games in and I still cannot get them off in time before being sacked.
2. The game still has some clock issues. There are times I'll go out of bounds and the clock won't stop. There are also times where the opposing team will go 3 and out in the last 60 seconds of the game when all they need to do is kneel on it and they get a W. Instead they run 3 plays and punt with like 20 seconds left.
3. Recruiting is super in-depth. I think I like it, but I'm still get used to it.

Last night I was playing against Minnesota. I was down 24-7 going into the 2nd half and ended up coming back and going up 25-24 with 13 seconds left. Minnesota chucks up a 50 yard pass and completes it. The WR is able to get out of bounds which stopped the clock. They come out and kick a 30 yard field goal and that was that.

Besides the fact I hate that they flipped the read option controls from NCAA14 and that field goal kicking is damn near impossible. I love the game and give it 9/10.

Pro-Tip

Use Kansas's Offensive playbook and thank me later.
Same issue with special teams. I am starting to get the tempo down but the left/right arrow to line up a field goal with no wind is still overly sensitive.

Does it still have the hidden 2 star 5-2 RB that after a RS year becomes a 5 star?

Agree, screens damn near impossible to execute correctly. I’ve run a bunch of shallow crossers that are easier to time and more effective. Robo-Cade loves him some QB sack schadenfreude.

Played UCLA tonight in the rain, up 4 with 13 seconds left and they get ball at the 20. Quick slant and the CPU bastard house’s it after bouncing off every DB. Hoping I can land the Duke’s Mayo Bowl and robo-throat choke some Noles back to Tallahassee.

The teacher has become the student. I had never lost to my nephew while playing NCAA 13 or 14
He just wiped the floor with me. 42-0.
My defensive view switched in the second quarter to sideline view after I was starting to shift the D line.
then I randomly chose GT….. all they have is Pistol and Shotgun. I run about 90% of my plays from under center.
Got done with the game and reevaluating my life and priorities.

Simming games on dynasty seem out of whack and unrealistic. Defense is really hard if going against a good QB. All in all it's a fun game. Glad it's back out.

There's a thread on the football board but here's my thoughts so far. Love the game and I magically just stopped sucking. I'm 8-1 and only lost on a late fg to Ohio St. I'm a true Iowa fan to the core. Cade has 1 TD and 5 picks with 1,200 passing yards. Williams/ Washington/ Patterson have like 2k yards and 25 TDs combined.

*update* I have more pick 6s scored and scored on than passing TDs of my own.

I can only throw under routes/slants and screens on the RPO.

Here were my beefs with the game:
There have been lots of complaints about this so far. I'd look to see it change.

I'm litetally putrid on defense. I can't tackle. Reading online it seems like I'm not the only one. Heisman and All-American levels say it is difficult all the way around.

Here are some of my other beefs/questions.

1. If a guy doesn't opt into the game (Like Kaleb Johnson I'm assuming) do they just replace him with another made up guy? Do I need to do something else with my rosters? I've updated 3 times.

2. When I went to play my dynasty and set it up with Iowa, why is it when I click on the updated roster Iowa is an 85 and an 86 or 85 on defense with an 83 on offense? Neither of those are true.

3. Is it just me or does the human team fumble all the time? I truly feel like Cade fumbled 50% of the time he gets hit. I am pounding, punching, ripping at the ball and have caused 1 fumble in 15 games.

4. Kicking is IMPOSSIBLE. I am booming my punts. Top of the bar as far as it can go... 42 yard punt. Field goals? A SLIGHT mistake and you are kicking into the stands.

5. Punt and kick blocking is insane. With NON USER PLAYERS.... I rough the kicker or punter (when I actually get to a 4th down) one time every other game. I can't stop it. I'm in safe mode and roughed the kicker. Conversely, I had max protect on and had back to back punts blocked for a TD. What gives?

I am currently 4-0 on my dynasty and broke the game. I beat ISU 45-42 and each team had over 450 yards of offense. I had the ball for 3/4 of the game and could do nothing to stop them. I think I got it to 3 total 3rd downs.

I beat Troy and Minnesota by maybe 3 as well. Now I get the Buckeyes... yikes.

I'm playing on All-American FYI. I'm not ready for Heismsan yet.

Oh, and to make the game lifelike I think I have like 650 passing yards with only 1 passing TD to Anderson.

Washington, Williams, Patterson all have +5 TDs and over 300 yards each.

Safe to say I'm back to being totally addicted.

I got the game and was able to give it a try this evening.

I agree with others that screens are almost impossible for me so far.

In having better luck early on by going with the recommended plays, rather than searching for one I like. That's for both offense and defense.

I like the way the running game is working so far. Seems pretty well balanced.

I don't have nearly enough time on defense to work through the pre-snap options.

I'm playing on Varsity and am in the semifinals. Kicking is super super hard. I used Michigan's playbook but added a few formations and plays. It's almost the opposite of real life as I can't stop anyone worth a damn but can put up 40+ every dame game. I weirdly beat OSU in the shoe 41-10.
Overall I love the game and feel alive again

I just figured out last night how to kick with power. I'm probably late to the party, but just in case nobody else knows, you have to continue holding A after your accuracy has been selected.

I've played about 15 games with Iowa. Playing on All American - having very little success passing the ball, throwing a lot of interceptions.

Have had a lot of success running the ball though. Straight up I formation and flipping the play to the advantageous side based on defensive alightment. The play action opens up a bit, but still sacked fairly frequently despite really committing to the run.

Turned injuries down, they were happening far too frequently towards the end of the game and would stop the clock too often.

Turned off roughing the kicker after the computer operated players committed 3 different game changing roughing the punter penalties. Far too many in 15 game sample size. If someone is going to rough the punter it should be the human player.

Have only played a few games of controlling defense, usually sim it.

Having very little success kicking FGs. Need to practice and probably move the sliders.

Going to start playing as other teams and try to get better at the passing offense. Also need to try out the RPO plays and mechanics.

Overall happy with the game.

That took me a bit to figure out! I was getting pretty frustrated at nailing the left-right meter right in the middle, and still punting it 20 yards.

Lost to Fla. Atlantic in second season due to several missed PAT’s. All game, punting and kickoffs were dead center with plenty of power (wind only 5 mph). Hit the meter dead center and kicks went dead center. But on PAT’s, meter was centered but kicks went far left.

Ok, so I’ve been out of town for a couple weeks, and just got this, so I’m a little late. I noticed a number of Iowa players not in the game. Kaleb Johnson for example, as well as Kaden Wetjen, and Dayton Howard, as well as some incoming freshman like Drew Campbell. Does anyone have an updated roster linked anywhere? Thanks.

Okay, I am sure many of you have now got a little deeper into the game. As stated in this and other threads I'm playing on All-American and there was a re-learning curve for sure. More weird stuff with the game.

I won my first playoff game in year 3 (lost the previous 2). I only average 28 points or so and run the ball a lot. I just gave up almost 500 passing yards and another 80 on the ground as well as throwing in a pick 6 and kick return for a TD (somehow...). Gave up 56 points.

So how did I win? Well, only had 250 passing and 190 rushing for 4 offensive TDs. Oh, I somehow caught a major glitch in only this particular game. Was running a nickel blitz when I was down. Had back to back to back pick 6s. Ended the game with 6 of them, 5 running the same play.

More weird stuff. I had 5 of the top 6 players for DB of the year. Top running back. Top linebacker who also plays DE in nickel and was 4th in POTY votes. All award winners. Only my running back was 1st team all-American. All the rest of my entire squad, who finished #2, did not make ANY all-American or All- Big Ten team! Haha.

Anyone else have weird glitches they found?
