In the Big Ten, Week 0
  • I think back to 1979, Hayden Fry and Indana at Iowa
  • Bret Bielema's return to the B1G
  • Scott Frost, Year 4
  • Wow, Lee Corso coached 10 years in Bloomington
  • Who has the breakout game here?
In Week 1 -
  • Thursday night game is #3 Ohio State at Minnesota
  • QB Tanner Morgan was ugly in 2020 and frankly, was he great in 2019 at Iowa and against Wisconsin?
  • Could PJ Fleck win this one in his fifth season?
  • Like IU, the last title for Minnesota was 1967, and it was the Hoosiers who saw Rose 🌹 Bowl that season!
  • The Buckeyes are the top dog in the Big Ten despite the new QB and the less than CFP championship level secondary!
Michigan State at Northwestern on Friday night. The Spartans have won two straight in this series. Let's not forget the Spartans beat Michigan 27-24 last year in Ann Arbor.

Mel Tucker vs. Pat Fitzgerald

Odd match up, but we know Iowa opened 0-2 last year, but last year was only the last time Northwestern got out of the blocks easy. And, they still lost to Spartans.

Saturday, Week 1: the two huge B1G cross-over games for the West Division:
  • Penn State at Wisconsin, and Badgers have lost all 4 in James Franklin era, series is 10-9 in favor of Nittany Lions - this should be a good one!
  • Indiana at Iowa - IU has dropped last 3 and 0-3 ATS, so hopefully Hawkeyes can get out of the blocks playing at Home, with 2nd year QB Spencer Petras and the 2021 Iowa team!
Phil Steele power ratings
  1. Alabama - defending CFP champs, who should be solid on defense, hard to argue here.
  2. Oklahoma - too much love for Sooners and Big 12 heading into 2021 by ESPN FPI and here with PS, imo? The Sooners last won a MNC in 2000. Year 3, so do Sooners finally get Chris Klieman and K-State?
  3. Clemson
  4. Georgia - #3 vs #4 right out of the gate should be a real good one, go ACC!
  5. Ohio State - I think the Buckeyes would give OU a good game. We will get to see Nebraska at OU in 2021!
  6. Iowa State - I would not put them this high, based on history and 3 losses last year!
  7. Texas A&M - do the boys from College Station finally have a break out season? Open with Iowa's later OOC opponent, Kent State!
  8. Penn State - why Phil?
  9. LSU - seems a stretch here, as well!
  10. Notre Dame - blueblood envy, and the Fighting Irish haven't had back to back Top 10 finishes for a long, long time.
  11. USC - okay, Rose Bowl too? Or, another Holiday Bowl thrashing?
  12. Oregon - Iowa has a better QB than Ducks. Another not Top 25 in 2020 in Top 12, wow!
  13. Wisconsin - the Badgers traditionally are Top 25, but both Indiana and Iowa took care of business last year against Bucky!
  14. North Carolina - many suggest this may be a tad high here!
  15. Utah - Weber State, the b2b road trips to BYU and San Diego State before Pac 12 opener!
  16. Washington - tune up against Montana, then road trip to Ann Arbor to face Michigan in Week 2!
  17. Miami-FL - open in Atlanta against #1 Bama, then host App State, Michigan State and Central Connecticut!
  18. Cincinnati - host Miami-OH in opener, with road trips to #19 and #10 to close out four game OOC slate before AAC play this season!
  19. Indiana - QB Michael Penix has yet to play a full season, so if he can, what can the Hoosiers do this year for Tom Allen? #LEO
  20. Arizona State - Pac 12 > B1G here?
  21. TCU - QB Max Duggan hopefully enjoys healthy 2021-22!
  22. Iowa - Go Hawks!
  23. Texas - open with Louisiana, like Cyclones last year
  24. Florida - coming off 55-20 loss in Cotton to OU! New season
  25. Mississippi - beat IU last year
  26. Auburn - Akron, Alabama State, at Penn State and Georgia State before 8 games in SEC, yawn!
  27. Stanford - play K-State in Week 1 in Arlington
  28. NC State - host USF on Thursday of Week 1
  29. UCLA - host LSU in Week 1
  30. UCF - host #39 Boise State in Week 1
Will my forecast be any better?
