The thread about the retirement of a local news anchor (Bruce Aune) got me thinking about which of the three local news affiliates in Eastern IA are most popular.

KGAN became complete garbage when Sinclair bought it. KWWL is in Waterloo, so it’s more focused on NE Iowa. I believe KCRG trounces them both in the ratings.

Dear lord. Local news coverage (Television) is just garbage in about every market. I'm guessing both of the women in that video likely shouldn't be having pets for numerous reasons.

Every once in a while I’ll flip it to channel 2 to watch the news. It’s like watching an episode of Twilight Zone.

KGAN is still on the air? Who knew?

I will say this for KGAN. When flipping through during severe weather coverage this year, they are the only station with a live chase team. That is pretty cool. I miss the days of Bobby Ratliff reporting from the air.

They did get some really good videos a few weeks back from that mini tornado outbreak.

I watch KCRG for several reasons, but #1 is because of John Campbell and Big 'ol Fish.

I used to watch live storm chasers video/audio streams, it was like weather crack for me. I think Discovery Channel used to support a live tracking webpage devoted to a number of pro/amateur chaser teams. I think you have to be a little bit crazy to have that as a hobby though IMO.
