The other day I did a YouTube search for 'Ed Hinkel Highlights' and found absolutely no videos. The search basically just found old Hawkeye game highlight videos. But nothing specifically on Hinkel. I just thought that was crazy. He is my 2nd favorite Hawkeye ever.

He was one of the best.

Thanks for checking out the video guys and for the feedback.

I have to say my favorite Hinkel catch was the one that opened the video in 2004 vs. Iowa State. That was my freshman year at Iowa when the student section was still along the West sideline. I was maybe 5 rows up from the field right along the goal line. He made that catch right in front of the student section and we just lost our minds.

THANK YOU!!

Ed was absolutely in my top 5 favorite Hawkeyes of all time. The Michigan 1 hand grab and the Iowa State and Penn State catches were unreal.

I remember watching him at the combine. He was something like 4.52 and well in the upper half for speed. (I recall very few guys were under 4.5 in the 40 that year) I honestly thought he'd make it in the league. After watching this I still think he was good enough. He sure as hell could have played on my team.

Kudos to Tate and Solomon too.

Was he really that fast? I mean Dwight ran a 4.63. I wouldn't think Ed was faster than him. I did think he'd be able to play in the league though. Ed would have been a perfect fit somewhere like New England.

I would love to see ed added to the Hawkeye coaching staff at some point. I know he does a great job at Regina but sure and like he'd be a great fit at the college level.

Man that takes me back. I remember his senior year against Minnesota when he scored 4 TD's and had the whole crowd chanting "Eddie! Eddie! Eddie!" Good times.

That senior day game was one of my all time favorites in Kinnick. Lost a ton of close games that year and with the onside kick screw job in the bowl game I'm so grateful that class got that day in Kinnick.

Awesome video thanks! By the way, Tim Dwight's 40 yard dash time was 4.63 seconds? !! That's hard to believe, he must have had a crappy day.

I thought the same thing but when I did some looking that is what it said. That can't be right though!

Ed actually reminds me a bit of TD in these videos. I don't think he was as fast, but you see him run and he looks like Tim.

It has been a long time since that combine. The reason I remember the time is because there were so few people under 4.5. I remember that Ed was well in the upper half for speed that year. It was 4.5 something.

That is impressive. For some reason I didn't think he was that quick but it makes sense.
