Condolences to Goldteam
We'll be adding this guy out Edina, MN next year.

He's the number 5 rated offensive tackle in the country.

The offensive talent is going to be increasing just ever so slightly under Fleck(LOL)

Quinn's dad played at Minnesota.

You will soon s[/QUUOTE]
well without their Online coach d at Notre Dame developing lineman they'll go back to the classic Underachievers they usually are

Solar meltdown over on gopherhole. The reaction is a mixture of ho-hum despondency and a scatter shot of anger alternatively directed at Quinn himself, his father (Jay), the TV station where he announced (KARE), the reporter who interviewed him (Shaver), the city of Edina, and to a lesser extent, PJ Fleck. Here are a couple representative examples of the negative posts.........

"Well, good riddance to him. No longer respect his father either. He should be erased from the alumni directories and game tape segments for allowing his son do this the way he did on local TV. Over-reaction? Maybe, but this is a fan board and we are huge Gopher fans. Apparently Jay no longer is"

"Quinn
noun
/kwihn/
Definitions:
1. Someone who makes a fool of themselves by thinking they are way more important than they really are. Example usage 'he really made a quinn of himself at that meeting'
2. Someone who craves attention. Example usage 'don't be such a quinn all the time"

and my favorite so far:

"Think it through! Dad is a know it all and horses ass. He will now be out of state for a couple days every weekend ND plays at home. This is a huge win. The state of Minnesota wins in this. And Dad, since I know you read this .......... please feel free to take as many cake eating Edina friends with you when you go to South Bend. Please fill the van to capacity! Dad, you seriously let the kid do that on KARE? Seriously, daddy? LMAO" ~

Pretty entertaining and they are just getting started.

Welcome to Minnesota. The provincial "you're either one of us or you're not" thing is comical.

The Kare 11 bit was classic! Talk about a huge build up, then colossal crash! Folks up here were all swagger today, then flipped the switch to diaper baby tantrums. Barreiro was having a field day with it on KFAN.

Disappointed I missed it. Do tell. Do have to wonder what the hell KARE11 was thinking. I'm guessing Randy Shaver won't be terribly comfortable in the post game interview room this fall.

I have to think it was one of 2 things. Shaver had to think either 1. He was a slam dunk for the Goofs or 2. People would be human beings and not really care where a 17 year old kid decides to continue his education. Obviously neither one was realistic since the kid was too smart to buy into PJs garbage and because Goof fans are delusional. You are correct, Shaver and KARE11 are getting lambasted up here. Barreiro was calling fans out for being delusional and for attacking the kid, but did wonder also what KARE11 was thinking as the fan reaction was totally expected. I have lived up here for 18 years now and while I have slowly come to follow the Vikings, I will never be a Goof fan. Personally, I think this is yet another instance of pure hilarity! Minny seems to be a magnet for all things dumb. They can’t seem to get out of their own way.

I've been up here 20 years and have similar experience. If Shaver thought the kid was a sure thing for the Goofs, this was a f-up of epic proportions. If not, it was an even worse move. Why rub salt in the Goopher wounds. He's gonna pay for this one for awhile.

Barreiro can be a little too cynical for me sometimes, but he usually calls it straight. I think the Gopher backlash against this kid will die down pretty quickly...he's not the first top athlete to go elsewhere and there's just not that much energy and passion behind the program. It's a Vikings town.

Anybody that believed Quinn would go anywhere other than ND deserves everything that comes to them. The entire recruiting world knew he was a lock there for a few months

Rah Rah "row the boat" might work with upstarts and kids who have always felt like they were short changed but for kids born with a silver spoon and know they are destined for the NFL it looks stupid. "We" have ran up against this also. It doesnt mean the kids dont work as hard it just means they dont buy into the blue collar mentality. They were born winners. The advantage Iowa (staff) has over MN is professionalism.

Ahh, so you too are familiar with the ungodly fair-weather fandom that is Minn sports fans. All one has to do is look at how fans treated Keenum this year. When the season started, they hated him and wanted Teddy. Then as he was winning, they loved him and cast Teddy aside. Then when they got curb-stomped by Philly, they hated him again (even though the outcome of that game had little to nothing to do with Case). So they go spend twice as much cash for a QB that will ultimately be marginally better than Keenum at best.

BTW,

Goofer hole guy was on PA this morning and said it would have been nice if they got him, but they don't need him because PJ recruited unbelievably amazing lineman in the last class that will carry them to greatness. He expects PJ to land high end guys from all over the country regularly now. Classic delusions.

Barreiro and Common are definitely cynical, but the two of them together are needed to balance out PA. Having said that, I still love PA.

My cousin was from Edina and played for the Hawkeyes back in the 70's. His dad (my Uncle of course) played at Iowa and was a coach at Edina High School. When my cousin announced he was going to school at his father's alma mater the death threats started.

Hold my Beer.

Cough, cough....

You know what would be crazy, If RTB gets run out of MN because they have a BS fan base right about the time ol' KF hangs the clipboard up and Iowa hired him based off an interview with Barta where he went on record to never lose to MN...

Little known fact: The Gopher chant has evolved. Nowadays Gopher fans chant "Who hates Iowa? We Hate Iowa" but back in the 70s the Gopher chant was "Who Hates Iowa? We Will Kill Kids Who Play For Iowa "

But seriously.......and I can't believe I'm typing this.......no kid should have to endure threats from anyone because of his/her college decision.
