How about a guy that went 8, 1, 1, 2 (I know its not quite as high as Nelson) since you are looking at Heavy. If you are going to pick one maybe pick one that was a scoring machine and since he didn't wrestle at at Big 10 school maybe ya could swallow it. Doubt he is looking for a job yet though. Since he wasn't a guy that just good at riding he may have some Olympic aspirations.

It's as much about fit as anything else. Unless they could get Hahn to leave Cornell to return, the only other sure fire hire would be someone like Cunningham. The top head coaches aren't leaving where they are now and we all know Terry isn't going anywhere. That only leaves unproven big names on the hope that they can be great Heach Coaches their first try.

From all accounts Eggum is one hell of a coach and was an integral part in the Minnesota day to day for some time. Regardless of what he knew in the Xanax scandal it wasn't his call to do anything about it.

Finally, as far as recruiting goes, he has a lot of star power assistants. That isn't to say they are going to compete with Carl, Brands, Ryan or Koll, but who else really does anyway?

McKee wanted to wrestle and is excited for the challenge. Coaches supported that. He is doing just fine for a TFR that will likely grow into a 141 and need a redshirt later on due to Thorn still being there.

That is not exactly what I said but whatever.

If you don't think Gable Stevensen would prefer Tervel Dlagnev as a heavyweight coach to anybody currently at Minnesota (Nelson included), then you are kidding yourself. I don't know if I can think of a Heavyweight with more different styles than Stevensen and Nelson. If Minnesota does land Gable and turns him into Nelson and everyone changes the channel again once heavyweight comes on, it would be truly sad. Gwiz, Snyder, Walz, and Medberry had to work hard to make people want to watch heavyweight again after what Nelson did to the national opinion of heavyweight wrestling.
