Why does it matter to you what someone prefers to be called? It seems to me people should have a little control over how they are referenced. There are quite a few words that the PC police have taken out of usage that we are better off not using as a society.

First, elves are not "little people". Generally average size or bigger. In some mythologies, trolls are very large. Gnomes? Who knows.
