O$U and Purdon’t ... come on number 2 seed and I think Purdue was a 4? Anyways that doesn’t look good on the BIG.. the toughest conference in America.. (I do believe they still are but those are bad losses) the gems of the BT are definitely ILL, Wisconsin and MG HOME STATE RUTGERS! I am not a fan of them but still like to see any NJ team pull one out that was an awesome win. Wisconsin JUST BLEW OUT NC! Wow! Happy for the badgers and the BT.. now we need to whip on GC... and pound them into 2022 or (23) blow the doors off these guys .. they will be ready no pressure on them it’s time for the Hawks to deliver a throat shot early and often then a temple shot to end them early ..

Go Hawks!

It’s obviously late to say now, but I’m miffed as to how Ohio State held onto a 2. They lost a ton of games down the stretch, although I guess BTT showing was impressive.

I am concerned that Michigan might not be a legit 1 either. Guess we will see.

A MAJOR POSITIVE FROM OSU LOSING: I bet it grabbed the attention of the Hawks... not that we should need it.

MI and OSU were both overseeded. MI mainly because of Livers, not sure if injuries are ever considered. Shocked OSU moved up because of conf tournament performance, had heard that didn't happen.
That’s a good point. This board was full of people saying BTT performance didn’t matter and we wouldn’t be able to improve our seed even if we won it. The fact that OSU got an even higher #2 seed than us implies the committee must have placed some weight on their performance in the BTT.

OSU is a good team I’m honestly shocked OR could beat them - didn’t watch the game though.

Disappointed would be an appropriate description....embarrassed is kind of to dramatic of a term. OSU and Purdue losing sucks but Wisconsin smoked UNC and Rutgers win was an upset...

I agree that the OSU loss should be an attention getter...but more than anything these lower seed teams are not a joke just because they are a lower seed or from a smaller conference....the athleticism of some of these teams has been pretty high level.

Well it hasn't in previous years (BTT performance mattered). So was surprised it did this much this year. OSU had a very good year, but they were a small team to begin with. Young being out really hurt them, as he gave them some toughness and rebounding. They still shouldn't have lost to a 15 seed.

I like to wait until the season is over to decide which conference is the best.

This year with limited non conference games that even more important.

just because the Big Ten dominates TV and the talking heads pleasure themselves over the big ten don’t mean a lot come tournament time. You are what your record says you are when it’s OVER. Not after your team has a good game.

So far the Big Ten has 3 wins and 3 losses in the NCAA
Tournament thanks to Illinois, Wisconsin & Rutgers.

Purdue, Ohio St. and Michigan St. all failed. The
Buckeyes are a big embarrassment as a #2 seed. It is
an eye opener that #15th seed Oral Roberts beat them.

Today, Michigan Maryland, and Iowa have a big
opportunity to give the Big Ten three wins. Go
Hawkeyes.

I admit ... I was pulling for ORU. Heck, I can see the (former) City of Faith towers from my front window. Now of course, I wish I had gone to a game or two. If that was even possible.

100. tOSU finished 5th in the BT, was seeded 5th in the BTT, was below Iowa in all the analytical rankings, but sure, give the a high #2 in the NCAA TOURNAMENT....

I believe Ourdue losing at #4 is a bugger “upset” that tOSU losing at #2. TOSU having a starter not playing today and they haven’t been very good their last 10 games or so....but Purdue had really been playing well...and they just didn’t show up today. Not a Purdue dan but I really thought they were capable of a deep run this year...and I still think next year, they can be a real factor in the B10...they are loaded with a couple of great recruits coming in.

I will never understand OSU as a 2 either. If the season had ended 1 month earlier, but the sucked down the stretch other than their run in the BIG.

In the end, the only thing that matters is Iowa making a deep run for a change. I really don't care how the BIG performs. If Iowa loses,I'm done watching the tournament.

Michigan without Livers is not a #1 team, with all due respect. The injury to the OSU player was damaging but one would think the Bucks had enough talent to overcome the loss. Again..I find the Purdue loss just inexplicable.
Go Hawks!

Always thought OSU was the weakest of the top 4 teams, so I wasn't surprised . On the flip side, Rutgers was really solid early in the year and played solid. I wasn't sold on Purdue either.

tOSU played without season long starter Young (Cue the CJF out of lineup narratives)

They still were worse than us defensively with or without him.
He

young did have 18 1h points vs Purdue in BTT, so losing his offense makes them poorer and more reliant on streaky players probe to bad shooting nights like Washington v Oral B

What does it matter how good the rest of the Big does? Does it benefit Iowa somehow? I never really got the, root against teams for 4 months than all of a sudden root for them. For me, I obviously want Iowa to win first then i always root for cinderellas next.

I guess I have a different take on the conference. These are teams we battled all year and fought for position to improve our lot in the NCAA's. Now that we're all here, as long as we're not playing them, what do I care how well they do? If Iowa keeps winning, no one in their right mind is going to hold OSU and Purdue defeats against us.

Because it helps justify our ranking due to the success we had in conference ...especially during a season like this with limited o.o.c. games.

Not that hard to understand.

justify our ranking? who cares about that, rankings are purely subjective anyway.... want to justify it, just win. simple as that.

Being in a good conf should help you prepare for tough games in the tourney, but I'm still not cheering for opponents unless they are the underdog... except Wisc... NEVER root for them

The more games the conference teams win the more games they get to play. The more games they get to play the more money they make. Then the conference divides the earnings up. So we want the pot as big as possible.
