Embracing even more hate........we have GOT to beat MSU!!!!!!

Ok...so I was driving back from a meeting and was switching around looking for any sports talk I could find on AM, and I landed on the Jay Mohre Sports show. Wasn't he some kind of comedian? Anyway, as luck would have it he was just starting to talk about the College Football Playoffs. In a nutshell, he said, " I LOVE Oklahoma! I also have no issues with Clemson being at #1 or Alabama being at #2......BUT I absolutly, 100% do not agree with Iowa being in there, and don't give me that they have not lost a game. They don't belong...their schedule is a joke. MSU will KILL Iowa. Truth be told, I actually don't even care about Iowa...the school or the team." Then he proceeded to heap praise on Tom Herman (his next guest) as if he was the next coming of Jesus. He spent A LOT of time railing the Hawks for their schedule, while at the same time giving Clemson and Alabama a pass. Again, he said MSU will KILL the Hawks multiple times.

I LOVE THE HATE and I hope Kirk lets the boys see ALL THE CRAP being said and written!!!

Jay Mohr is a comedian trying to be a sports talk host. He was an uneventful cast member on SNL back in the 90's, was in Jerry McGuire(probably his most notable role) and often would fill in for Jim Rome when he was off for vacation, etc.

As for his comments, its not the least bit surprising, this has been going on for two months folks and anything short of a national championship, these buffoons will carry on this narrative that we aren't deserving and they were right all along. Even if we beat MSU, I suspect the narrative will be we won because MSU had an off day and didn't play well. The Hawks have embraced the underdog role, that is all that matters.
 
The other half of this though, is that Michigan State needs to cooperate and help us win. Gonna be difficult if they go try-hard mode and act like the Green Bay Packers getting in our players' faces and trying to get in their heads and make them lose their cool. That is MSU football, first and foremost and no amount of back-tracking or head-shaking or flat-out disagreeing by our fellow visiting Spartans fans can change that fact. Even though SpartanJD will try with his "yeah sure" or "okay whatever" retorts or anything else he has to say. Won't change a thing about their football team. They are what they are. (Which is the team that is ultimately going to help Iowa win the Big Ten Championship, advance to the College Football Playoff, and put an end to the barrage of critics complaining about having to)

Deal with it.....
 
If these drama queens of talking heads think that Iowa is undeserving, what would they have done in 1984? That year, BYU played only one opponent that appeared in a bowl game that entire season. And, not one of their opponents finished in the top 20 of the postseason rankings. Go figure, they won the National Championship and did it with a lot less hate, and ignorant, ridiculous statements being made today about Iowa.

I will say I do remember a lot of fans thinking BYU's national championship -- after a win in the Holiday Bowl over a very weak Michigan team, IIRC, -- was a joke. I remember thinking that, myself. If we'd had the same 24-hour sports news cycle then that we have now, I'm sure BYU would have caught a bunch of flack. Granted, they beat the teams put in front of them, but their path to a national championship was laughably easy, and everyone knew it.

His show is pretty terrible as a whole. He had Kirk on, what a month ago, telling him how great he is and how much he likes the team. He also had Tyler Sash on last year to talk about Dash of Sash. If you listen to his show you realize very little of it is about sports. He does impressions and lets his update anchors and guys carry the sports talk. A lot of his sports points get corrected by his producers, followed by, ah who cares if I'm wrong, that was a strong take. Kind of the way Steve Gorman does his show. His cousin carries the sports talk and Steve does the interviews.

While I do feel like we'll get the underdog support should we make the playoff, I would guess fans of other conferences will pull for Iowa against MSU because they'll see it as their own conference's best chance for a National Title.

After all, I don't like Florida, but am hoping they beat Bama.

I know this guy is a comedian and not a serious sports analyst, but why the heck would he throw that in there? If you are like every other casual fan in America and dismiss Iowa's football team as a pretender, that's one thing. But compared to Iowa, the other three schools in the CFP Top 4 are absolute jokes as far as academic institutions go.
 
Losing in Indy is not an option for this Spartan team.

Iowa needs to take it one step at a time. Winning the West was cute, but you don't belong. It will all show out Saturday night.

He does realize Nebraska beat MSU right?....sorry but any team that loses to Nebraska and makes Tommy Armstrong look good in the process is not a title contender.

Lost to Nebraska,......just saying. There's nothing you have that Iowa can't counter. Remember the last time Michigan State played Iowa when they were ranked 5th.........?
