Energy prices soar across America as Biden relentlessly pursues green agenda

A small price to pay for saving all life on earth from extinction.
Not even close compared to previous eras in the history of the earth. I marvel at people who think humans can control climate. I also marvel at people who ignore the total damage being caused by producing and driving EV's. Rare earth minerals? Tire dust? Harm to birds and whales?

Gas prices are up for a number of reasons:
Heightened fears of a Middle East war
Travel increases as spring/summer trips increase
Winter fuel blends for heating are changing
Usage is up for another unusual reason: more people are driving instead of flying - who wants to be on a Boeing 737 these days? 😳

It’s pointless to blame a POTUS.

yes...it's boeing. or fuel blends

not the opec nations deciding to cut production for the specific reason of keeping prices high

No, it's not pointless when the POTUS issues EO's to prevent production, and his Departments break the law to prevent sale of leases, etc., etc. The notion that it's a world market and nothing we can do matters is flawed because we have the ability to be the largest producer and significantly influence the world market.

this is dumb

we're already the nation with the highest oil production in the world
we're also producing more oil than we ever have before
(i guess the EO you mention wasn't very successful)

and we have nowhere near the most oil reserves in the world...

two things are clear...US oil production has little to no bearing on world oil prices AND we can't keep producing oil at this rate because we'll run through all our reserves (as in 10 years or so)

So much for OPEC shutting it down!

everyone should read this article though and realize the following...

we're producing somewhere around 13M barrels a month by ourselves...all the OPEC nations combined are only producing 26M barrels a month

this is not a US production problem...we are producing roughly half of what all of OPEC is producing

But...but...but...OPEC was shutting down to hurt jo, no???

If it means ending you and your ilk, then by all means: Burn the mother down!! 🔥
Tsk tsk

No. No one said that. OPEC has decided to reduce its production to raise the price of oil. They aren’t stopping production… they are controlling prices.
Can you read? The articles says they haven't reduced anything!

the voluntary cuts are referenced multiple times in that article

there's also a link to another article discussing their review committee not recommending any further changes to the voluntary cut policy

here's opec's press release about the cuts (well, technically this is a second round of additional cuts in production)

Mostly agree but “officially” we’re already the world’s largest producer.
We’re saddled with a clueless bunch controlling the elderly and addled occupant of the WH and somehow they think that shrinking the SPR to 17 days worth of supply was a great fix. And now they can’t afford to build it back up.
But by golly that pipeline is stopped. 😏

So in your mind, the fact that we are producing 13m per month is the end of the story? Then why stop releasing leases? Why limit production? Why not produce more than 13m, I know our wacky left will not like it.

i don't know how people square being "concerned" about the strategic reserves with also favoring extracting and exporting the resources we have as quickly as possible

if the difference between having 1 month and 17 days available in the strategic reserves is SUPER IMPORTANT, why aren't we more concerned about making sure we wisely use our oil and gas reserves in ways that actually help american consumers?

one good reason is that we have no where near the oil available to extract that opec does

so if we keep increasing production (without having any price reduction for american consumers), we're going to burn through everything we have available domestically and then be even more at the mercy of foreign energy sources

See my bolded correction…

There are unexplored and likely enormous new sources of oil and gas but when an EO stops
the sale of leases (hey that’s revenue isn’t it?)
We don’t know how much we may have.

"Nowhere near?" You're either a pathological liar or just stupid but probably both.

We have more than anyone:

you know that opec isn't one country, right?

that article shows that opec, collectively (which is my whole point since the operate as collective organization when it comes to oil production/market influence), opec has 4X what the us has under that 2PCX category (823 to 264)

also interesting, that article (written by a oil/gas exec) assumes there are 150% more oil in "undiscovered fields" than in existing in the us

And I know this is going waaaaaaay beyond the scope of the three brain cell club, but US crude is "sweeter" than any of the slop jo is importing...meaning it is easier to refine--takes less resources--and creates cleaner gasoline.......but as long as the big guy gets his 10%, we'll keep buying sludge rather than producing our own............
