Enjoy your freaking gift Minnesota

Will do. Almost got bit on an off night by an average team. Minnesota is trying their best to make it a nail biter come selection Sunday. Both teams will be better next year. Minnesota loses one guy.

Looks like most MN fans recognize what a gift it was...

"Its bad enough reading posters here blame every close loss on officiating. Now, we were GIFTED OT, and proceed to complain about calls in OT. Just grin, accept that we jobbed Iowa, and move on. No need to always play the O-card. Just be happy we didnt piss away our 2nd chance."

Blind freaking officials not granting the timeout. Should never have gone OT. Enjoy your gift!

And not reviewing the play to see the Minnesota player's foot was out of bounds on the jump ball call. Officials were terrible for both sides tonight. Gotta play through the issues with the officials.

If Baer makes that and one to go up three with 20 seconds left, good chance Iowa wins the ballgame. Lots of ifs tonight. Win this game and the Nebby game in 2OT and Iowa is 8-4 in conference, 16-9 overall. This team is so close.

Joks touch fouls the entire second half were gifts. Any idea how many?
IF Minnesota makes the tourney, I will be happy. They will get drilled, first round. I will give anyone Minnesota +10 right now against whoever they play. You need guard play in the tourney, they don't have it

I actually don't dislike Minnesota's basketball team this year. I've watched several of their games and they are a blast to watch. Athletic as hell. It's their coach who I can't stand, and it's their coach who is holding them back from being a top 10/15 team this year. Mason/Springs should be one of the best backcourt duos in the Big Ten, and Amir Coffey is actually a stud (struggled tonight). With beasts like Lynch and Murphy manning the paint, and solid players like McBrayer and Curry off the bench, there are really not that many weaknesses on their team.

Pitino is really a crappy coach though. They are so undisciplined (fouls, turnovers) and looked like they'd never seen a press before. Additionally, he didn't even use a timeout until after Iowa had completed a 14 point run/comeback. That was horrible.

No because their coaching is trash, hence the team is undisciplined and struggles with turnovers and fouls. Did you read my post?

What!? They have solid guard play.. could easily see them in sweet 16! Take it as more a compliment for the Hawks..

I skimmed it, I think the premise was that they were a good team. My contention is that they are not.

I said I like their team and that they are athletic and fun to watch, but their coach is holding them back. You mis-interpreted my premise

I get that you blame the coach. I believe the talent on the team to be bad, specifically the guards.

You have got to be kidding?

Top 10/15 team this year? LOL

Fans in Minnesota have wanted Murphy benched for Curry he's been so invisible. McBrayer had to be benched for Springs he's been so average.

Mason has good games but can be terrible in others. He's not what you would call overly quick and can look bad at times.

We don't score inside much at all against athletic inside teams.

The gophers are an average team just like Iowa. No real difference at all. They won 2 big 10 games last year and you think they are 10/15?

They have good/very good guard play depending on the night, but when they get into the tournament and it's officiated normal, they will be in foul trouble before the 10-minute mark of the first half. Their post guys commit 2-3 fouls for every one that is called. Now I get that last night's officiating was so horrid--both ways for the most part--that it's hard to gauge only off that game, but unless they get into a track meet where their bigs don't have to defend, they're in trouble...IMO.
