It's not all about "replacing", it's about getting him more involved in the rotation. When you start consistently seeing quarterbacks sit back there with all day to pick apart the defense, you have to change something up. Getting your best pass rusher on the field more seems like an obvious change for the better.

Also, I feel like the Iowa coaches know what they have in AJ and are going to unleash him during Penn State. Against an offense with the athletes like they have, you need to get your best athletes on the opposite side of the field to stop them.

What is your basis for saying this? What play did you see AJ caught out of position, and when did this result in a busted play?

Gap integrity is overrated by the way. If we have a guy that can sack the QB but occasionally goes out of his lane, I'll take it. AJ needs to be on the field, because without him we are getting very little pressure on the QB. McSorely will pick us apart.

A sack is one play out of 85 - makes little difference whatsoever.

Sacks make a huge difference. They derail drives. They turn a 2nd and 5 into a 3rd and 15. Almost as good as an interception, plus the added benifit of getting in the QB's head.
