Eppy....

Will lose Matt Nelson on the defensive interior next year but I am really high on Davion Nixon. The guy is a brick house.
It will be cool to see how the interior DL develops this year. Word has it that Linderbaum is excellent at playing with natural leverage. Hopefully some of the older guys who don't play with leverage as well can see what a huge advantage it is to play with great leverage.

Also, word has it that Brincks has been playing the best ball of his career. I could see it being hard for Reiff or Lattimore to displace him as a starter. However, with that said ... we're obviously going to have a pretty active DT rotation anyhow.

Word also has it that Reiff might be the best DT as it relates to getting penetration ... the guy reputedly has a great motor. Going off of what I had seen last year - I believe it!

Lastly, in the NASCAR package ... it's nice seeing what Golston and Hesse bring to the table on the interior. Going off of Kirk's comments ... we'll probably be able to expect Golston to mostly see backup reps at DE. However, it's also clear that he can give us quality reps at DT too. That young man was near the ball on a lot of the plays I was watching. Keep an eye on Chauncey ... he's definitely a "riser!"

The DEs are all so good, if we also had another wide body to plug in the middle, that DL would be top-10.

Lots of high-motor guys who all want to prove that they deserve to be on the field more. This is a positive feedback loop that will make individual players and the team better as games and the season progress. This unit is good enough to make LBs better by allowing them to read and run and DBs better by allowing them to tighten their coverage.

I think the coolest thing I noticed was after Ep's strip sack rather than celebrate with Gholston and the rest of the team, Hesse turned to celebrate with Eppy. Just shows the camaraderie those two have. They both broke through and blew up the QB at almost the same time

Absolutely! On the post game radio show, Parker told Dolph that Eppy deserved that sack/break-up on that play, and Dolph told him not to "correct" the scorekeepers ~ Hesse is a class act.

I watched the replay.

Seth Wallace told the BTN play by play guy this:

"We don't want AJ to think too much.... if you have a 98 mile per hour fastball, use it."

I hope they unleash AJ big time because a year from now he might be in a lot of NFL 1st Round draft pick projections.

Before we know it, AJ will be playing in the NFL.

You’re probably right. But, look forward to his sons down the road. I hope when I’m an old man a whole army of Epenesas will have worn Iowa jerseys.

Hard to sit Hesse who is also playing well. Hesse is much more disciplined and holds the edge better than Eppy. It’s fun to watch 3rd and long with those guys pinning their ears back.
Rewatch game. He had almost back to back plays where he got washed way inside by the blocker and then they ran big plays off LT.

Eppy back at it this week. Good luck blocking him with one OL!
Thank god the defense has played lights out cause our offense has been awful .
Eppy will play in the NFL for a long time! Getting better fast and gaining confidence! Watch out B1G!!!

Eppy has been great, but reminds me of Matt Roth in 2002. One-trick pony, get after the QB. Hopefully by next year, he improves in the run game and becomes a Clayborn (or better!) type player.
