Anyone else see the twitter war that Eric Graham (former Hawks running back) is waging on Hawkeyes football? He is calling the coaches racist...if you haven't check it out, his handle is @EricGraham22

Yeah, I have read his tweets. I followed him when he became a Hawkeye, and never unfollowed him. It would be nice if he would stop with the under the table remarks and just tell the world what is on his mind. Sounds like he is also retweeting Derrick Mitchell's tweets which also sounds like he has some underlying grudge.

Maybe DJK can reserve a chapter for him in his upcoming book so he can tell his story.

I looked at them but didn't see where he said they were racist.
Sorry I went back through and looked again, he actually retweeted some other guy who said "The Hawkeye Football program is built upon a foudation of systematic racism. Don't let the outliers fool you." No idea who this other guy is.

Kinda sad. They gave the kid a chance and he couldn't cut it. Putting the blame somewhere else isn't going to help him succeed.

It amazes me it's the disgraced players or the ones that left early who complain about ferentz... I mean if the Iowa staff was so racist why are these former black players coming back to be captains?? Eric is disgruntled and sometimes the easiest thing to blame is everyone but yourself

It's funny how gracious Jinning was in his announcement to leave the program but apparently things have changed since...? Fake news here I am guessing.

2 low level D1 talented players who would never see the field until seniors at best. But like most quitting is easier then putting the work in. I'm sure guys like Mike Daniels regret not quitting and not playing until his senior year. Now these einsteins that throw away a free education and are probably flipping burgers are going to educate us about our racist program.

A skill that has been lost to many in 21st century America... is keeping your mouth shut.

Having so many platforms (Facebook, Twitter, etc, etc) has given a lot of self-absorbed people the illusion that what they have to say is worth listening to. For the most part it's not. Just shut the f up... nobody cares.

Maybe Eric wasn't a "good practice guy".

Thought graham was the guy they took when higdon bolted? Sounded like he was way out of his league...and accelerated/cemented the no visit policy

Eric Graham was undersized, not recruited and given a chance by a major program at the last minute. He couldn't cut the mustard and he chose to leave the program.

It's hard enough for talented players to get early PT under Ferentz, let alone the lower ranked recruits.

yeah...but... YOU'RE RACIST!!!

He also called himself the Colin Kaepernick of CFB, for what its worth.

My big issue is that he is tweeting about the team plane, karma, "this not being a game", and being in Kinnick on Saturday. This has the makings of an out of control situation and I'm just not sure what his mental health is like currently. He also retweeted a tweet that said, "I can't go out sad like Rob".

He is threatening to go to the media and wants his story to be told but what if nobody is willing? Will he lash out in other ways? This isn't me trying to incite panic, this is me worried about going to the game on Saturday with my family. We've all heard of this stuff before whether in the workplace, or elsewhere. I just hope it's under control. I wouldn't feel right not mentioning this obviously volatile situation and honestly just am hoping someone with authority has as well.

I'm not sure it's even fair for me to post this because for all I know he is just looking for attention, but I for one am not going to be comfortable sitting at Kinnick on Saturday unless there is some sort of re-assurance this situation is under control.

I like how he said that the coaches are hard on the players. What does he expect them to be? Of course they are going to be hard on the players. This dude sounds like an attention hog and kinda glad he didn't last at Iowa.I feel we have 7 rb's that are 10x the player he is. What a waste of time.

I am sure Saban, Harbaugh, and Meyer and all are not hard on players in practice. You see some of those guys yelling at players during games. I can't recall Kirk ever doing that. The assistants maybe, but never see Kirk do it during games.

That's a pretty big leap my friend ..... a former player making ambiguous twitter complaints about the Iowa football program could mean........ a possible terrorist style attack at Kinnick Stadium?

I would be more worried about eating the stadium hot dogs.

As I said, its just something I wanted to point out. You failed to acknowledge why I took that "leap". I'm far from a pessimist or unrealistic worry wart. I am genuinely concerned with the things he is tweeting about, especially considering he is saying he will be in Kinnick on Saturday. Didn't at all say terrorism, just could do something he regrets based off the tweets. Before you disagree, go read them for context.

1.) He is tweeting about "not going out sad" like one of his friends
2.) He will be at the game and was saying so in a condescending manner
3.) He was tweeting about the team plane and karma right around each other
4.) Continually saying "this isn't a game" or "you all will see"
4.) Repeatedly tweeting about getting day drunk/other drugs
5.) Repeated "time is ticking" tweets
6.) Multiple other concerning tweets/replies that suggest he isn't thinking rationally

I just wanted to point out these concerns. Forgive me for trying to at least make people aware of it. How many terrible situations could have been stopped if someone pointed out indicators? That's all I'm doing. Not saying the kid is going to go mass terrorist, just that he might do something he will regret while in Iowa City and it is preventable.

Yes, of course I agree that if Graham is depressed, resentful, angry or otherwise mentally ill, I hope he gets the help he needs. In that regard, maybe there is a coach or player still on the team who can reach out to Graham and engage with him to find out what's going on. However, you feared for your family's safety at an event attended by tens or thousands of people and that implies your concern for the possibility of an indiscriminate event involving mass injuries or casualties.

I'm a proponent of safety and caution when it comes to my family also, I just don't see anything in his tweets which would make me think twice about attending a game at Kinnick. I respect your judgment and freedom to read it differently and to take whatever steps you feel necessary in order to protect your family. No one would hope your concerns come to pass. Peace.

Could it be that a coach interested in him talked to Kirk about his character and what kind of person he was and Kirks response led to the team discontinue his recruitment?

That's what I'm getting from it....sounds like Kirk might have pull and respect in the football community...nothing shocking there. It's been pretty well documented....and why would Kirk lie about his opinion on somebody when his own rep would be on the line...if he did question this kids character it would seem by the tweets he may have nailed this one imho.

That's fair. I guess I more meant Hawkeye family as a whole. Mine in particular as well, obviously. Not predicting or hoping for anything, especially mass casualty wise. That's not the point I was trying to make. Just seems like a situation that COULD spiral out of control. My point in posting was in hopes that U of I was aware of a deranged/mentally ill player who will be in attendance on Saturday (for some weird reason). Nothing more, nothing less.

This is likely another story of a person who has found out the grass is not greener on the other side after all and instead of coming to grips with that needs something or someone to blame.

In today’s world it’s easier to simply blame others for where they have failed.

I was told the kid was a confrontational/in-your-face a-hole while here. Sounds like he's still just doing his thing, has a beef and needs to express it
