I find it a bit funny that over the past couple years after the B1G has won the Challenge that ESPN barely even whispers of the B1G victory. All ive heard and read about have been Duke and UNC. I say this because since 2008 the B1G has dominated this series and I remember the first 10 years of this series very vividly. I remember after every ACC victory ESPN ramming it down the throats of all basketball fans how much better the ACC was how much better their teams were. The B1G deserves some respect.

On a side note picking up 8 wins and the victory will do the B1G a great deal come March. After watching all these games its clear the B1G could have as many as 10 teams battling for NCAA spots. The league is a lot deeper then I thought they were a week ago. Iowa is in a group with Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan, and Northwestern that will battle it out for 4th with Illinois and Nebraska close behind. I think Purdue and MSU are the two best followed by Maryland.

Northwestern fan here.

Thank you Iowa for preserving the Big Ten's run. Much appreciated.

Couple things. Really hope Gessell does the thing against NU where he fouls his opponent without actually touching him.

And for the Iowa fans unhappy with Uthoff, we still have a roster spot if you want to get rid of him. Those were very clutch free throws.

Not an easy win, congrats.

Haven't seen that discussed much but that was a garbage call.

Visitor post of the year! So you caught the, "I'm going to mentally make you fall down" foul on Gesell? :) How little he knew the ref could read his mind!

As to Uthoff. Give us a couple bad games and this crowd will send you a whole list of players to pick from.

++++++++++++++++++++++ above. Can hardly stand to read the Game thread.

+++++++++++++++++++++ you as well. I've given up on the Game Shred in the free board. The lounge is at least civil in it's disgust.

Never understand why people read the game threads. If I had every thought that goes through my head during a game put down for all to read it would be a jumbled mess of opinions. Thats just how fans minds work because you never know what the outcome will be at the time you formulate your opinion. I can only imagine what went through all the Hawkeye fans minds when Fran didnt call the TO at the end of the game and Gesell through the ball away to send the game into overtime.

Gesell has been getting more than his share of "Huh?" foul calls the past few games. He has to wonder why he isn't getting any of those calls when he is going to the basket.

The game last night was actually pretty well officiated, although that one call was awful. I still believe that the foul calls on Mike and the non-calls against him, were the difference in the Dayton game.

Yup. In the game thread last night it was bench Gesell! Bench Woodbury! Bench Jok! Pretty much the whole first string is useless and should be shipped out. Standard game thread. Oh I forgot, McCaffery is clueless and won't be around long. Dpn't forget that one.

Isn't that the truth! Before the games started ESPN was all about the ACC taking back the trophy this year. The B1G won 8-6 and nary a peep out of them. What a bunch of A-holes.

Go Hawks! Go B1G!

Well there was also the fact that two of the crappier BT teams were excluded for all those years, which should have been a built in advantage for the Big Ten teams.

thanks for posting....you got yourself a good coach & team...good luck this year & rest assured a number of us will be pulling for u other than when we meet.

Gesell deal was unreal...it is amazing how many times some refs call what they think happen instead of what they actually see happen.
