Lots of guys we have been recruiting have risen up the ESPN top 100 for 2016.
http://espn.go.com/college-sports/basketball/recruiting/playerrankings/_/order/true

PG Tony Carr is at #52
PF Tyler Cook is at #58
C Joe Brunk is at #64
G Kevin Huerter is at #73
SF Lamar Stevens is at #74
PG Xavier Simpson is at #87

And visiting this June,
PG Charlie Moore in at #89
and
C Dylan Painter, currently a 4* just outside the top 100.

Please note those I’m missing.
All of this to say, Fran seems to know something about this recruit evaluation thing, even when it first doesn’t show up in the rankings.

Agree CanadaHawk. Now we need to sign a couple of them. Cook, Simpson/Huerter and Painter.

I'd be ecstatic if Fran got Simpson or Moore at pg, Huerter and a big. Would be ideal along with pemsl

One of the big things I noticed about these rankings is how close Moore and Simpson are- basically dead even at #89 and #87. Both of them have skill sets we could really use but Moore is the one who's actually set a visit date. There are lots of combinations that would please me, Including the ones you mention. I noticed that I forgot to mention Rakocevic, who's in the same boat as Painter as a 4* grade 80.

I think Rakocevic is looking for bigger name schools. I'm hoping Moore and Painter commit early, leaving the last scholarship for Cook. We got plenty of 2-3 types last year. That said, Huerter would be another solid get but I think he will stay out East.

Good to see Fran in on so many top players.

Go Hawks!

Totally agree. Any combo of these players would be tremendous. I think Cook, Moore, Huerter and Painter are the most "realistic," but we'll have to see how it plays out. I'm still a little "show me" with out of state commits at this level, so landing one or two of these guys is far from guaranteed. But if we do, with who we already have verballed for the future ... THAT would be exciting. Don't forget Willie Jackson either. I LOVE his potential and athleticism.

One thing Iowa has in it's favor this year. Three scholarships to give and Pemsl committed. The rest of the Big Ten has only twenty-nine scholarships left. That's if none are filled yet this year. Those twenty-nine include thirteen that could still be given out to late 2015 guys or transfers.

Compared to seasons past, the Big Ten just doesn't have a ton of scholarships! Example, Wisconsin has just one to give for 2016. Two of their offers include Rakocevic and Jackson. Well, they can't have them both! :)

And, I know that at the end of next season guys possibly going pro like Nigel Hayes will make a difference. So will transfers. But most of the players who wait until the spring to decide seem like 5 star players. Would Rakocevic or Jackson being willing to let other schools fill up just to see if a spot opens up somewhere?

It's a great year to have plenty of spots available.

*Numbers counted fast and could be off a slight bit.
