College Football Power Rankings after Week 3
Does Alabama's nail-biter knock the reigning No. 1 out of the top spot? How high does Penn State climb after its big win? And can Cincinnati crack the top 5 after a 3-0 start? All that and more in Week 3's Power Rankings.
Even I don't think Iowa should be this high in the rankings ;-). I think the potential is there for Iowa to be a Big 10 and playoff contender but they are a work in progress. Granted, the resume is as good as anyone's and that could be where these rankings are based.
I think the first 3 opponents were all dangerous (even Kent State, those guys have some talent) hence Iowa coaches were relying on the D and special teams to win the games and the O was just going to "not screw up" and play keep away (at least from KS).
For the Colorado State game I expect more aggressive passing to see if SP can continue his incremental improvements (he will eventually need to shoulder more and win games for Iowa if they are going to win the Big 10). Stay the course, get ready for Maryland and PSU. PSU game will be the one that tells us if Iowa is a contender or pretender for Big 10 title/CFP. Go Hawks!
