Will be in NW Iowa for work for a couple of weeks here shortly. Any good places to camp around Estherville without having to drive to the Lakes? Looking for a place to bike, kayak, fish, etc. TIA.

I have been and will continue to be, working in Estherville for the next few months. They have a campground west of town, don't know how good it is for what your looking for. I can ask around. When you going to be there?

Supposed to be there this week but I am hoping it gets pushed back to after Memorial Day.
Mrs. Jelly and the littlest Jelly
may be coming up for a few days. The park you are referring to is Fort Defiance. I have camped all over the place and need no amenities. It is the other two I have to accommodate. Defiance has put toilets and no showers...although we have those in our camper, an additional bathroom provided by the campground would be nice.

Well since this thread blows, can we at least get together for a beer?

Check the campgrounds by Ingham and High Lake. Great weekend parties. Fishing goes in cycles there because they are prairie lakes. Fish the north side of Ingham along the rifraf with twister jigs. Orange and chartreuse are the best for walleyes. Also had good luck with shad raps. Used to be huge perch in High Lake. Have caught limit with all over 12" on more than one occasion..

There is a campground on Iowa Lake north of Armstrong also. Great walleye fishing there.

Good advice. I grew up in Emmetsburg, and that's good place. Caught a lot of Northerns and Perch -- not as many Walleyes. I preferred Lost Island or Spirit Lake. At night, Spirit is great walleye fishing. For some real fun, try a leech on a lighted (lithium) bobber. Lots o' fun.

Ts and Ps to both of you for having to spend any amount of time in Eville...
It's not that bad. 20 min from spirit lake and 2 hours from home. Has a decent restaurant in Mother Natures. I've been stuck in bum f**k nowhere for 2 months before. That sucks.
