Evelyn Farkas was once considered the most senior policy officer for Russia within the Pentagon, and she is now apparently defending the leaks that have been coming out of the Trump White House.

Now an MSNBC analyst and senior fellow at the Atlantic Council, Farkas has "advised three secretaries of defense on Russia policy," according to a senior defense official quoted in Politico. She has served on the Council on Foreign Relations and the Senate Armed Services Committee, among others, and was executive director of the Commission on the Prevention of Weapons of Mass Destruction Proliferation and Terrorism in 2008-2009.

In an appearance on MSNBC earlier this month, Farkas told Mika Brezinski about her role in the efforts to collect intelligence on Trump’s team, and their alleged ties with Russia, in the Obama adminstration’s final days.

“I was urging my former colleagues and, frankly speaking, the people on the Hill... get as much information as you can," Farkas said, adding that her big fear was "if [Trump staffers] found out how we knew what we knew about their ... the Trump staff dealing with Russians – that they would try to compromise those sources and methods, meaning we no longer have access to that intelligence.”

At the end of the interview, Farkas said, "we have good intelligence on Russia... that's why you have the leaking. People are worried."

I was a little taken back after watching the interview on Fox yesterday. My god why would she publicly reveal what she did. With the coverage that Fox has given this, Im sure she will be testifying soon to someone.

If the liberals on here didn't think it was possible that the administration would do some shady shit to Trump, just look at her comments.

I would think the first rule of the "fake propoganda made up by obama club" would be to not go on tv and discuss it

Oh, this must be your first day. Normally a veteran poster would follow board etiquette and supply pics, in this case of crazy eyes Farkas. Welcome aboard, new guy!

Well...I can't help you missed last thread on Farkas. You see...I'm a regular. I know what she looks like from the other thread. You half timers need to decide if you're in or out.;)

Actually, it's better/worse than it seems at first. When she was doing this stuff, she was an adviser with the Clinton campaign.

evelyn-farkas-2.jpg

Sounds like everybody has already found incriminating evidence on Trump and had it before the election and/or inauguration.

Just knowing Washington, if there was a smoking gun that Trump did something illegal, that shit would have been leaked already or Obama's DOJ would have took action. Think about it, if the Obama administration had evidence during the election that Trump was coordinating with Russia...then they would have purposely hidden it from the American voter. Why would Obama do that?

Is there outrage with this? I am confused by what she was lying about.
I don't think she's accused of lying, Biscuit. As I understand it, she basically screwed the pooch big-time on MSNBC; she said the Obama administration collected information on the Trumpsters and intentionally leaked it.

Obama doesn't like Hillary and really wanted her to lose.

The thread title says she lied. Isn't what she said obvious? We know information was collected. We know it was leaked. When you say admin do you mean all executive agencies and their employees? I think it was safe to assume that is where the links were from.

Is there outrage with this? I am confused by what she was lying about.

She went from, "We had all kinds of information that we wanted to make sure we got to the hill before the Trump administration came in and got rid of it..." all the way to, "I had ZERO information" in a twelve hour span. You think both of those things can be true?

Maybe I missed it, and I only got to read the transcript once. But the way I understood it was that she knew there was an investigation underway (Comey confirmed this before Russia was even a thing in the 2016 election) and there was a fear that when Trump took office they would bury or destroy the data gathered as part of it so that she encouraged others to do what they could to save the data.

Fox seems to be spinning that into confirmation that there was spying on Trump under the Obama administration, when in fact it is that it was a legit FBI investigation into Russia.

The thread title says she lied. Isn't what she said obvious? We know information was collected. We know it was leaked. When you say admin do you mean all executive agencies and their employees? I think it was safe to assume that is where the links were from.
The subject line went right over my head. Sorry about that. The OP will have to explain the reference to lying.

Everybody on the Left is denying that what she said happened really happened. That's the significance. They're claiming there was no collection of information about Trumpsters and denying any wrongdoing by the Obama administration. She basically confessed to conspiracies to commit two felonies.

I have no idea what FOX is spinning it into. What I know is now she is claiming (per her latest tweet) that she had no information ever. Pretty much the opposite of what she was spewing to Mika. You don't think someone got to her and told her to STFU? She just suddenly on her own decided to clam up? That's completely normal behavior, isn't it?

I explained it in the OP. Her latest tweet said she never had any information, which is the exact opposite of what she was saying on MSNBC 12 hours earlier, where she was saying she had all of this information and she needed to get it to the Hill before Trump got to it first.

No idea, apparently there is more to it than the Fox article I am not aware of. But if she is walking back her statements then something is going on. Not sure why anyone from the left would need to get involved. The right seems to be doing a good job of bungling the investigation on their own.

Obama doesn't like Hillary and really wanted her to lose.
Do you really think BHO prefers having DT in the WH over HRC?

I doubt BHO's hatred for HRC is/was anywhere near as important to him as his legacy, which is eroding into oblivion rapidly.

I see none of the board libs replying so I assume this must be bad? Also, this kids sister?

My point with this OP in calling her a liar (that Biscuit doesn't seem to grasp) is that on MSNBC yesterday she said, "If the Trump folks found out how we knew what we knew about the Trump's staff dealings with Russia, that they would try to compromise those sources and methods, meaning we would no longer have access to that intelligence. So, I became very worried that not enough was coming out into the open and I KNEW THAT THERE WAS MORE."

Then 12 hours later she tweets: I told friends on Hill 2 get WhtH 2 tellCongress what they knew I had 0 info.

So, it's quite obvious to me that she's lying because she sat there earlier that morning talking about how she knew there was a bunch of information that hasn't come out after saying, "we knew about Trump's staff's dealings with Russia", which is also an admission of some sort of spying on either him or Russia most likely. THEN, when someone told her how effing dumb she was for admitting all of this, she tried to walk it all back with a Tweet saying she really didn't have any info on Trump or his staff...which is quite effing laughable to anyone with half a brain.

Now, I know Biscuit has more than half a brain, so I'm hoping this clears it up for him. If not, it means there's no hope in prying his head from up...well...I think he's gonna see my point here.

And I agree with what someone said earlier. You can bet your ass that she will be taking the 5th. And the left (like with Lois Lerner) with back her up with "why do you hate the constitution?" as the main argument, completely ignoring the fact that she's probably guilty of everything she's being accused of.

I don't see how this says anything other than there were foreign operatives being listened to and in the course of that, information was picked up about what Trump affiliated people were saying and doing. And she wanted to make sure that information was preserved.

She's backtracking now. She's now saying she never had any information on it. She knows she let the cat out of the bag. If she didn't, she wouldn't be tweeting the opposite of what she said on MSNBC.

Hell...she knew about this stuff a long long time ago. Here's a quote from an interview in FEBRUARY with Ezra Klein.

Ezra Klein
What’s your level of alarm after the resignation of Michael Flynn?

Evelyn Farkas
It’s lower than it’s been since the summer, when I was first made aware of all this stuff. I’m like, finally, everybody else sees it! Seriously.

LOL...now she wants to pretend she knows nothing. She's toast.

It is a good of reason as any for why Obama ignored the overwhelming evidence that Trump is working with Putin. He had all this data about Trump the Comrade and sat on it.

Unless the evidence he was given showed Russian involvement just not with Trump.

It doesn't have to say anything other than that. What they did to "preserve" it was illegal and mostly likely done for partisan purposes. Which is why they denied it happened. Which is why it is being said that she screwed the pooch with her comments.

This. In fact, this is Pepsi news as it was mentioned weeks ago that some people were saving data that they felt Trump would get rid of when he took office. The spin Fox is putting on it is suggesting that the information came because they were targeting Trump, as opposed to incidentally getting the information based on surveillance of others.

So you main issue is she may have been privy to classified or confidential info, but she is saying she didn't have specific info and just knew there was stuff out there. Since she used "we", you think it means her personally while she would probably claim "we" meant the current admin. I get what you are saying.

Fox also painted her as a sort of Democratic whistle blower or turncoat for speaking about it on the new shows.

This is her quote.

What does "they knew about the Trump staff dealings with the Russians" in quote mean to you?

My other point about her quote is if she was so afraid of sources and methods being compromised why would she be "urging my former colleagues and, frankly speaking, the people on the Hill... get as much information as you can". It seams if you are trying to keep something from being compromised you wouldn't be urging a bunch of people to start running around asking a bunch of questions.

I take the quote to mean she was privy to some info about Russia/Trump, but she may claim she was just privy to knowing there was some type of info out there.

I thin regarding the compromise, she felt if it stayed within the intelligence community trump would bury it. Getting it to Congress increased the chances of something being followed up on.
