Excitement mounts over Nazi treasure train in the mountains of Poland

I read a fascinating book a year ago titled Chasing Gold: The Incredible Story Of How The Nazis Stole Europe's Bullion, by George Taber. It was a detailed account of the efforts by Germany under the Nazi's to steal the national treasure of their European neighbors, and to steal the gold, silver, and other valuables of the citizens of the lands they'd conquered.
If they uncover this long rumored train there will be an immediate battle over who owns what. The Nazis went to great effort to conceal the true ownership of the precious metals they seized. It was melted down, and poured into bars with the German national emblem. Paintings have a providence that can be chased down, but, you melt gold or silver and put it into a new mold you've almost erased the ability to establish ownership. The Nazi's were great at keeping records, but, unless the train is found with a stack of paperwork on top of the gold establishing who it came from it'll be a mess for individuals to claim it. Most likely it'll go to the Polish government.

That was kind of a dick move by the Nazis.

The Nazi's tried to hide providence. They used one smelter exclusively in Germany. It was located in Berlin, and it suffered heavy damage during a bombing raid. It severely curtailed their ability to melt down the gold and silver late in the war. That is how some of the recoveries were made.

Well, now they take the riches of the minions and you guys call it taxes and say it's justified. But, the first thing I thought of was the supposed gold hidden in the hills here in the usa, plundered by the Knights of the Golden circle around the civil war times.
