Experts Predict These 5 States Will Be Top Retirement Spots in 10 Years

Is it more expensive than Southlake? I admit I haven’t lived in Dallas for several years.
I do know that I googled our old house in Far North Dallas and it sold three years ago for $1.3M which was crazy. I think it had to be Cali buyers. 😏
No, median home in Southlake is over 1 Million.

Look dude you show you live in Montezuma Iowa. Population 1500 people in the middle of nowhere. If that’s your thing that’s awesome. Des Moines is a nice city. We all love Iowa City. College towns keep you young. And yes, the places we all wanted to retire to 20-25 years ago are not so secret because they are all great places to retire to. So they’ve gotten expensive. Which means I’ll probably retire here in KC and rent a VRBO near my kids in the Winter for a few months at a time. But as I get older the cold, the snow, the dreary days depress me. Beach or mountains for me in the Winter moving forward.
And in Iowa as shitty as the weather gets, what is truly depressing in tge fall and winter is the lack of sunshine! It is common to go 3-4 days at a time and never see the sun shine..the lack of sunshine just beats the shit out of a person over time.
Back in the day what I enjoyed about college (New Mexico) was the sunshine! There is nothing prettier than a New Mexico blue sky!

You'd die in Portland OR then.

Retirees look at Climate as a major concern. Winter in Iowa
is not appealing. Perhaps Texas and Arizona will continue to
be favorite places to retire as Florida recedes into a lower choice.
Retiring in Iowa doesn't mean you can't leave. Many of my friends winter in FL or AZ.

Also, when you get old (like me), excessive heat is actually a bigger problem than excessive cold. Or, at least in my experience.
