Explain to me why Peter Jok traveled with the team.

Seems to me that if your best player is out with a back injury, having him spend ten plus hours riding on planes and buses isn't going to help that back condition.

What else am I supposed to do, stay here and learn? Road trip!

No complaints about the game. The game is awesome. But I have had back issues before and even a couple hour car ride can make your back stiffen up like crazy. When I say ten hours I'm talking round trip. It's about a three hour plane ride each way and then I'm guessing that they probably have an hour or two of bus rides each way in New Jersey traffic. Plus a half hour each way riding to and from the airport in Iowa. So it's not at all inconceivable that Jok will be spending about ten hours in transit over the course of a couple days. Time that could be spent at home resting.

I'm going to guess their travel plans involve much more comfort than most of us.

He's a member of the team. Besides, up until today Fran was saying there was a chance he could play if I'm not mistaken.

Case closed.

Who knows how many more times in his life Jok will be able to get on airplane now that Trump is in charge? Maybe he wanted to enjoy the phenomenon of flight while he still could.

You fellows may want to check the politics at the basketball door; that is enough ground for anyone's spirit of repartee. When comparing your commentary to anything akin to factual reality the tension becomes obvious. Always mentally review Abraham Lincoln's maxims before you hit "Post Reply."

Pete's issues are muscular, I'd assume he traveled with team and trainers and got treatments, as well as being a leader in the lockerroom.

The back is the most noticeable, but I heard / read somewhere that his shoulder and hip are still bothering him from. Jok hit the wall about this time last season and got his minutes reduced for a few games if memory serves. He spends a lot of time running through screens and getting banged by defenders, so maybe a mental / physical break will help him for the second half.

Might have something to do with what is actually the problem with the back. If the travel does not hinder his recovery, him being with the team is a good thing. I am not a Doctor and haven't stayed in a Holiday Inn Express lately, so I don't know the specifics of his injury and what the treatment should be.

I said this on another post, but those of us who have had back trouble know that plane trips are killlers. Like the OP, I was hoping Pete stayed home this trip.

He probably meant 10 hours round trip, which seems reasonable.

For the record and some meaningless drivel in response to a meaningless and totally lame thread subject......American Airlines has a flight from Rapid City to NY for 3hr 50mins. one way, round 7hrs 40 mins. And, just like sitting at home, he can get up and walk around on an airplane to stretch his back, shoulder, hip, et al muscles. Enough rambling......

Answer: Either Pete is an excellent cheerleader, or he heard that
Rutgers has excellent cheerleaders.

It's one or the other.

GO HAWKS ! :)
