The observation deck is smart, but wouldn't it be smarter if they had a balcony walkway all the way around the field, so they could watch from any angle?
Also, how pathetic is it that the feel that they need to boast about putting electrical outlets in the lockers? This facility is a giant upgrade from the old facility, but it seems very blah to me.
I think it is very cool in this era of electronics. Some at the BTN have called it the best in the B1G. It's impressive but needs more traveling trophies.
Not an impressive feature but it does demonstrate they listened and incorporated feedback from players.
Watching all these videos from Morehouse and others, it is amazing how Iowa was able to compete at such a high level with the previous facilities.

Yes, but my point was that they are bragging about something that really should be obvious. Hell, I've been to gyms before that had outlets in the lockers. This isn't space age chit we're talking about here.
I haven't been to a gym in probably 5 years (YIKES) but I don't recall ever seeing a locker that had an electrical outlet in the locker itself. The Naval Station in Everett, WA just remodeled there gym locker rooms. I am going to have to swing by and see if they heard about the obvious idea of putting electrical outlets in a locker. Not a locker room mind you, but in the locker. I wasn't star struck by that idea but I was by your willingness to bitch about it.
I think this is just one of those moments where somebody wants to bitch about anything he can get his hands on.
Very impressive, I really think it will help the program in regard to recruiting in the coming years. I thought Brian's comments on how they tried to figure out what to highlight to recruits in the past and what to "hide" vs what they have to work with now is quite telling. How could you not be proud to bring in recruits and show them what you have to offer in regard to the day to day facilities they will be using. Very well thought out and designed.
If you are nitpicking over certain features of the new facility just to lodge another complaint against the Hawkeye football program you're probably at that stage where professional help is suggested.

They said they visited 12 school's I would bet Nebraska was one of them. I seen a lot of our Weight room is comparable to your new one.
Ours was completed in 2006, still think Nebraska's Locker room is one of the best in B1G not as Big as Minnesota's which is the largest in the country I might add. But Each locker is made of solid maple with unique ventilation system, and a personalized iPad on the front on the locker donated by Suh.

This is a GREAT video tour of the new facilities led by a couple of the players on the team. Highly entertaining.
Iowa built a "wet room" for pads and stink so there is little to no need for a complex ventilation system because the stink doesn't enter a the locker room to begin with.
Holy cow ... these facilities are truly amazing. I am understanding more and more that the "facilities" really are a necessity on the recruiting front. Well done Hawks!
Where is the 1958 Grantland Rice trophy? Did Ol' Doodle just miss it?
Seems like that's one for which you might want to go ahead and make a special pedestal or something (and maybe they did and it just wasn't shown in the vids).
