Not huge news, but Gary Steen also announced on instagram he is transferring to Oklahoma State.
It seems the whole “ISU is going to make big moves in the portal!!!!” stuff has fizzled hard.
I think all they care about is getting AJ, the self absorbed narcissist cancer who Iowa was selling its soul for last year... but now they want. Lololol.
That’s just a settle job. They weren’t talking about him when that “buzz” hit.
Then again this is the fan base who convinced themselves Iowa was broke. 😂
We started playing L'Ames again in football back in 1978? 79? Can't remember. Gable was already in IC creating his legend. Prior to that first football game in 40 some years, t shirts were sold. The front said Iowa State has their head up their Ass. The back had a picture of a football player with the same. They shoulda kicked our ass. We won 12-10 with the massive handicap of having Bob Cummings as coach.

Pretty big get for osu. I’m curious what weight he does. He’s been anywhere from 157-174. He looked terribly sucked down at 157 but was clearly pretty affective giving Kasak a good match.
I guess just depends on how much he’s improved and if DT can help him offensively.
157 is definitely the easier weight to win but don’t know what’s the easier weight in terms of depth off the top of my head.

would have been worse if DT couldnt get him to come with the PSU connection - ya know being in the same room for the last 4 years together. Metcalf was never in the Davison room with Facundo so that connection is probably not all that powerful

Sheesh, some of you guys are something else. Sometimes it is just a regular conversation.
Metcalf was/is a legend in our area. Just because they weren't in the same room at the same time doesn't mean there wasn't a solid connection or at least there should have been. Donahoe still has a pretty damn solid club feeding into Davison as well.
I am not saying it should have been a lock, but this is now the 2nd time he had a chance to bring him in and didn't. ISU needs him a HELL of a lot more than OkState does and I can't believe he didn't throw the kitchen sink at this pick up...
He will never start there, I do not understand why he would go from one room where he couldn’t crack the line up to another room where he won’t crack the lineup
Why would Iowa go after him, he’s way too sucked down at 57 and 65 and 74 are taken care of for Iowa
I am not saying OkState doesn't make any sense. To me, this is more of an indictment of Metcalf and ISU. This isn't the first time I expected him to be able to land a recruit/transfer and it didn't happen.
Also, its really weird that he hasn't created many inroads to MI as a whole. So few of the top programs, especially Iowa, have really any significant connection here. Losing Swiderski probably didn't help...even if he is a bit of a headcase.
Immediately after Metcalf arrived at ISU, there was a Michigan kid at Ames that was a 141(can't remember name) that they ran off.
Could the ISU staff be blacklisted with Michigan kids?
I think you are talking about Storr? They actually had a solid MI core then with Parker, Storr, Weatherspoon and Smith.
As far as Storr goes, I think that one was more of an individual mindset difference than a whole state of MI argument. However, it may not have helped Metcalf in the long run simply due to what that can do to a reputation, considering Storr transferred back to MI, going to UofM...

Eh, unless its PSU related or Brands hate you should be fine, just as long as you aren't throwing shade at me. I have done all I can to make the 1st 2 painstakingly obvious and the 3rd is just simple common sense!
