Fant Tweet

I can understand frustrations from Noah and his family but the thing to do is tell your son or brother to go meet with the coaching staff and talk about it.

I do think Brian Ferentz missed the boat multiple times is the Wisconsin game isolating Noah but Nate has got to get him the ball in those situations near the goal line. He does need more touches in space but Minnesota was double teaming him most of the game so kinda hard to get him the ball in those situations.

Think their "me first" attitude has anything to do with being from Nebraska? Wouldn't be the first time someone from that state thought they were God's gift to football and smarter than the coaches on the field.......just a thought.

The “wrong” time to show your frustration is after a team win. Especially after a win where the team scored nearly 50 points and 300+ yards in the air. No , I don’t understand frustration Saturday unless you are only concerned with personal stats.

Agree. Stated it earlier in the thread about Coach Fant should be hsppy for the W on the road and Iowa being 4-1 on the season.

Was just watching Toyota halftime with Tony Dungi and Rodney Harrison and what they are saying about Odell can be said about Noah Fant. Keep everything in house, be a man and go talk to the people you have issues with and be a leader by saying what can I do better, not someone saying what everyone is doing wrong.

Hey Noah, if you're reading this. I understand your family's frustrations, but I'm sorry you're having to read about it here. I especially hate the dark side of the fans who are trying to lecture your family and to set you up against TJ, Nate and Brian. Only you know what's going on there. Good luck navigating it all. I appreciate so very much you choosing Iowa, working so hard and contributing so much. I know it's tough to stay straight in a shit storm, but I hope you can still feel the love. You're a young Great Hawkeye who can become an All-time Great, and there are thousands and thousands of us behind you, hoping that you, Hock and all your Hawkeye brethren become what you can be, and get what and where you have earned. And we'll be watching you on Sundays for a long, long time. Stay strong.

Except, I think we are forgetting in this thread, Noah Fant hasn’t done or said anything publicly. If he’s frustrated, he’s keeping it in house.

Great post ... but I'd claim that ultimate fault was on the family member for posting such a stupid tweet in the first place. There's a reason why fans are called "fans" ... it's derived from "fanatic" ... so when a family member does an action that could be perceived as creating possible dissonance on our beloved team ... folks shouldn't be surprised when there is a "fanatical" response.

As the father of a college athlete, I'd recommend the parents encourage their son, the athlete, to talk to the coaches. The family should stay away unless the athlete has done his duty to communicate and there are deeper issues to navigate.

Fant has 5 TDs in five games. He is doing great. Not taking too much of a beating.

All is good.

I lol'ed at this tweet of his considering the state of his program:
Nice catch!

The reply by "Coach Fant" was filled with all sorts of fail. The Hawks have a whole group of subordinates that can hop on social media and try to put out small fires (such as these). Thus, it's not like we're looking at top coaches here jumping on social media ... folks who WOULD be working on constructing game-plans.

Wow, please tell me this willie fant isn't the same as noahs father!

If so, this team might be better off w/o him next year.

If it is him, what an ungrateful dbag!

Willie, his father, retweeted the tweet above and has also retweeted other comments regarding Noah’s “lack” of playtime this season.

Phucking joke. The Fants are just seeing dollar signs now.
he also responded to someone who said they've been a fan for 30 years,"wow so you've been watching mediocre football for 30 years."

If that is really is dad, then F him! Kid was a NOBODY before he came to Iowa!

Great thread here. Rip a player’s family members on the internet’s largest Iowa football forum. I’m sure Noah or his family won’t see it. Completely necessary.
Responding to family members who talk shit about the program that is turning their son from a nobody into an AA and future millionaire? That is trolling?
They should keep their mouths shut and be damn grateful he went to Iowa and not braska!
Sound like a couple dbags! That said, I have no clue IF that is his real dad. Not hard to put a name on a twitter account I assume.......I am not on that bullsheet!

Hell, the dude already think noah belongs ahead of dallas clark. I mean cmon now!! LMFAO

Awesome, throw shade at Noah because of something that someone you allege to be his father said. The collective age of this forum becomes glaringly obvious sometimes.

His only other real offer was to play D at braska, was it not? That is basically A nobody in football, is it not?
Also I said IF.....

I don't mind whining about play time. The only thing that bothers me is to insult the coach and program that turned your kid from a 3* high school kid into a future NFL player. That is flat out insane! I guess they're mad he's not playing for the black shirts?

It is not like the NFL coaches will just overlook the same thing the Iowa coaches are seeing. They should be thankful the Iowa coaches are trying to help Fant's career by making him a complete TE.

He will be a situational NFL TE unless he blocks better, period.
Nope his family knows best for him! our mediocre coaches and program don't know jack about nfl tight ends! ;)

So damn typical of Iowa fans. So easily able to turn on and trash some one who questions them. However, when Iowa loses they trash their own and question everything. Folks, it is okay to question the playing time of players with out demeaning anyone especially the player in question. I'd almost bet everyone who has taken offense to Coach Fant's post has complained about a player either getting too much playing time or another player not getting enough. You guys are so predictable and really not worth reading. I have wondered why Fant isn't used more to utilize his skill set. And, when I see him used in a jet sweep on n important drive I don't wonder about that anymore. I mean I'm thinking the coaches really don't know how to use him. That was one dumb brutally stupid play call. I'm beginning to wonder whether Brian Ferentz isn't trying to sabotage Fant's draft chances next year so he'll play one more year. Now you can attack me.

I love him as a player, but I can’t accept a player and family trying to push their own agenda that doubts the team’s motives (especially motives that have made their family member the leading TE receiver of TD’s in history of the program).

Get on board or get off the bus.

Ok. The part where you said "im thinking" is incorrect.

Again, ignoring is the best option here. With the sad state the Nebraska program is in, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if some of this is Nebraska fan trying to stir the pot. It's killing them seeing neighbor to the east with a 9 game difference in record.

Was the swinging gate fake FG to Hockenson a "brutally stupid play" as well? To this often-critical fan, it seems like they are trying numerous creative ways to utilize both TEs. The blocking didn't materialize on the Fant sweep and he exacerbated the situation by leaving his feet while running laterally.
Fant was leaving after the season barring serious injury. This has the look of a Ball family scenario where all the family members care about is to what extent they can capitalize on their son/brother's skill to advance themselves. A textbook case of living vicariously.

I saw what I believe was his family leaving the game early yesterday (unless a group of 4-5 people just randomly wear Fant jerseys and travel together). They seemed pissed.

Did they seem pissed about Noah getting his head slammed on the turf on an end around or more about him not coming back in after it?

Chris Fant is his brother and former high school coach. He was at Omaha south and now is at Omaha northwest.

Still in high school? Because his tweets are rather sophomoric.

He must of been watching nfl Sunday while getting liquored up and decided to educate everyone by sending out a few tweets. Epic fail.

No attack here. That being said, if you don't recognize the difference between a fan spouting off their opinion and family members doing it than you probably will get attacked.

Thought I heard in a interview with Noah that his family handles all the hype questions and he really doesn’t pay to much attention to what people say about him.. Well that’s the best idea Noah let your family and a few Iowa fans Bash it out both, seem to be very sensitive.. just play football! And continue to improve! That’s best for you and Iowa Football!
