Fant Tweet

Fant wins that battle 99 times out of 100.

The DB has his momentum going to the outside.

Easy pitch and catch.

The motion does help and I agree. Thinking they were hoping for more to eyes to follow Fant. However, you forget a slant route needs to go over/through about 3 DT's 2 LBS and the defender. Takes an accurate throw, if it gets through, the defender to be out of position and fant able to haul it in through probable contact. I get what you are saying but it's not going to be a conversion 99% of the time. I would confidently say that a sneak is a higher percentage and just so happened it didn't work. I totally get what you are saying and not saying you are right or wrong- wouldn't even be a discussion if we convert

Absolutely nothing the DB can do. (See 7 got 6 vs MSU 2009). The only thing the DB can do is pass interference which gives us first and 10 at the 2.
Ah, good. How many other "plays that cannot be stopped" do you have in your notepad and how can we get our coaching staff a copy?

One problem with a slant is if (and I'm not saying our QB does or does not do this but if) the throw is 100 MPH and bounces off the hands of the receiver, it goes straight up in the air.

I think a big part of winning football is getting matchups you can exploit. Noah Fant 1-on-1 out wide with no help from safeties or LB is a mismatch most OCs could only dream about.

If you can’t see that, then I can only surmise by your profile name that you are probably an Asian weighing 88 pounds and never played a down of football.

When was the last time the DSM North Polar Bears won a football game?

Ok, I've been out of the loop and am not up to speed on this thread. Is it just his family that are being douchebags on social media or is Noah participating on this?

Ferentz said he was aware of the “noise coming from the outside” but played it down, stressing Noah Fant is not a complainer, has a good attitude and works hard.

“I read the postgame notes because there is always some interesting stuff in there,” Ferentz said. “I think he’s climbing the ranks right now, both Big Ten-wise and Iowa history-wise. So I really don’t have much to say about it. We’re trying to do things that we think are best for the team, whether it’s how we sub on defense or on offense.

“The bottom line is we have two really good tight ends (including T.J. Hockenson), and they both play really critical roles on our team.”

1 step to the outside and then hard slant to the goal line. Absolutely nothing the DB can do. (See 7 got 6 vs MSU 2009). The only thing the DB can do is pass interference which gives us first and 10 at the 2.

I am NOT assuming a fade route to the corner, which has a higher degree of difficulty.

I will disagree with you on this Mile high. Fant is a big target and has a large target radius.

I coach(ed) DB's for year (unemployed now- head coach got fired and so did the rest of us). That being said, if it is single coverage at the goal line the alignment is an inside technique to take away anything inside which is why many teams go to the fade route to the corner. This is taught in 8th grade. That being said BF put him in motion which makes it more difficult to defend because you are in motion while snapped. Wisconsin is fundamentally sound so would assume they wouldn't be line up head up or to the outside.

Both Fant and the DB were set before the snap so there is no momentum. The DB was giving a 5 yard cushion with inside leverage, as milehigh described. Re: 7 got 6, the DB was lined up 1 yard off McNutt and tried to jam him. Totally different defensive alignment.

Furthermore, the OLB is standing in the throwing lane. With only one receiver outside, he's going to know exactly where the throw is going as soon as Stanley shows pass, so he'll have the potential to bat the ball down.

Did I like the sneak call? No. Does a slant work there? Maybe. Is it a no-brainer, easy pitch and catch? LOL, no.

I'm wondering if Noah told them STFU because nothing has been tweeted since that little tirade.
It's possible that they realized that their tirade wasn't representative of how adults should behave. Sometimes people are big enough to admit when they're wrong. I'd be willing to give the Fant clan the benefit of the doubt.
