Fant

Did any one else hear Chuck Long call him the best player on the team during the Final Drive on the Big Ten Network?? He’s got a good argument there! NF is a sophomore.. He’s good and he can get better. Gotta believe Stanley and Him should become best buds if not already & TJ too.. TJ, can’t run like NF but wouldn’t be surprised to see both playing on Sunday’s

what is the record for most TD catches in a season by a TE. as Fant now has 7 TD's Hochenson has 3.

Fant should have at least like five to six more. The one he dropped vs northwestern and the many overthrown.
This kid could have broken McNutt's record this week.

Just think of those mistakes as "making sure he's still playing for Iowa next season".

I'm just watching the replay of the game, and the Fant touchdown with 3:06 to go 2nd half. On this reception his momentum carries him into the tunnel. Seconds Later he is joined in the tunnel by his teammates. I noticed that going into the tunnel he slid, and stumbled and then later when joined by teammates they are jumping up and down. In the replay I noticed that they may have been jumping up down on something so I went over it again. The second time I realized they may have landed on one of the Band Members Tuba repeatedly because when the celebration ends they all look down, and the band member raises his Tuba to find the bell is smashed and warped. Another Tuba player behind the action has this look of horror as he realizes what just happened to other kids Tuba. It's no big deal, I just thought it seemed funny so I shared my observation.

Another excellent TE we’ve had in the program unfortunately gets little recognition because he was totally under utilized and that was Chris Knipper. Donny P. and Hayden arguably wasted his talent imo. It didn’t help that his qb was Matt Sherman however. If we’d had a better qb at that time Knipper wouldn’t be so forgotten. Very talented kid.

I may or may not have let out a big **** YEAH when he announced he was coming to Iowa on one of Omahas Husker AM shows two years ago. I had seen tape on him and knew he was going to be a physical freak.

I also heard Chuck Long say NF was our best player. Chuck needs to pump the brakes a little on NF being the best player on our team. Last I checked, Josie to is pretty good and so is Joshua Jackson.

Wadley isn't too bad either!

Kind of a big deal. Those things run $5 - $10k - and that's on Amazon.

John Alt?? He was an OL. Granted, he was a great tackle but...

I watched a bit of the 1982 Rose Bowl this week. Alt was definitely a TE that game, #87.

1981 Alt stats...1 catch, 13 yards.

But yeah...helluva lineman, both at Iowa and for the Chiefs.

I could be wrong but that Fant TD that carried him into the tunnel looked like the EXACT same play and formation that Duzey scored on at OSU.

Yes, we have been running a lot of double TE same side sets with the upcoming of Hok. Makes for a tough matchup outside for whoever is trying to cover them, if it is a LB they are too slow, a CB too small. Also, pulls the defense to one side opening up the other side. Think you will see us use that formation as a trick this week; maybe an opposite side screen or WR screen since teams will be keying on it now,.

To clarify, he didn't drop a TD vs Northwestern. Big drop to end the game, but that would have been a first down, not a TD.

Hockenson might be better because he is a better blocker.

They are good complementary players. Fant appears to be faster, but Hockenson can move in space as well. Hockenson a better blocker, but Fant isn't a pushover blocking either. The versatility gives Iowa a lot of options.

I am hoping we have a similar situation in basketball this year. Garza will be a much better offensive weapon to go with Cook but totally different players.
