Favorite hawkeye player

Mike "Tree" Henry
Kenny Arnold was another “Hawkeye Great.”
" Tree " was a fan favorite, usually only got mop up minutes, but I was near courtside at the Old Fieldhouse when he got off the bench after the fans were chanting, " Tree, Tree, Tree ". Lute called his number and as he stuck his thumbs in his warmups at the bench, he also caught his shorts, pulling both down to his knees before realizing his azz was hanging out. The bench erupted.
After they graduated Tree was instrumental in helping raise money for Kenny Arnold after his unfortunate health issues. What a great friend and Hawkeye...

Throughout your lifetime who has been your favorite hawkeye hoops player and why?
1. Michael Payne. This was the time I first started REALLY watching iowa basketball. My first name is Mike and I thought at the time it was cool he was from Illinois and wanted to be a hawkeye. As a kid I assumed every hawk player came from iowa
2. Russ Millard. I was a 6 foot 1 skinny center on my AAU team. We played Millards team and I had to guard him. Maybe 8th grade. He posted me up, pivoted and threw down a 2 handed throw down. My coach couldn't stop laughing.
3. Jaryd Cole. Just loved how tough he played despite being on some horrible Lickliter teams.

I just always seem to root for those guys so much. How about the rest of you?
Ronnie Lester, definitely.

Ronnie Lester would be #1 for me. Runners up would be Vince Brookins, Sam Jones, Gerry Jones, Andre Woolridge, Jess Settles, Freddie Brown, John Johnson and on and on and on.
