Favorite Iowa vs MSU plays

7 got 6

The Bootleg

any others?

Kevin Kasper jailbreak screen for a TD that (I believe) gave KF his first B10 victory. That one felt like a program changer.

edit to provide more info. It was a big one:

http://www.blackheartgoldpants.com/...-the-top-25-wins-of-the-ferentz-era-number-15

Within two, Iowa struck late as living legend Kevin Kasper took a jailbreak screen from Jon Beutjer and weaved his way into the end zone with just under three minutes remaining. Michigan State had three different Hail Mary tosses to the end zone fall incomplete and Iowa had its first win in 13 games.

Important? How do I put this? Iowa had not beaten a ranked opponent since 1997. That’s a long time. Iowa had not won a Big Ten game since beating Northwestern in 1998. That’s a long time! Iowa had not won a football game of any substance for more than a year. THAT’S A LONG ****ING TIME! The 13-game losing streak was the largest in team history and with the Hawkeyes of the 1970s, that's saying something. The Hawkeyes lost their next three games before finishing their season on a winning stretch that carried into 2001. If Iowa loses to Michigan State and then the next three games, and the losing streak reaches 17. Do the Hawkeyes go winless in 2000? Does Ferentz make it to 2001? Thankfully, those questions never had to be answered.

Kahlil Hill, dancing, to daylight, for a KO return in that same game.

Ron Hawley taking out the goal posts in 1981.

Dave Yarema of MSU to Ken Sims of Iowa in the back of the end zone to preserve an Iowa victory in 1986.

We made the trip up to EL as a students and had a blast. Haven't been back since, but idk, MSU doesn't play as an accommodating style of football anymore. It'll return to normal though, real soon.

I was at that game as a 9 year old. Thanks, Dad.

The biggest kick in the nuts was the bootleg by Chuck in the 84 game that the officials ruled short of the endzone when it was clear the ball crossed the plane. Would have sent us to The Rose Bowl. Payback is coming you sonsabitches :)

And the next year, '85, was of course the famous Chuck Long bootleg into the end zone with the ball held high. In '84 I think it was more of an option play in which Chuck kept it. Oh for instant replay review back then!

So for that little stretch there, '84-'86, at least we won 2 out of 3. But yeah, they deserve some payback regardless. A win Saturday and I'm thinking we're on the plus side of the payback ledger for a looong time.

Bob Sanders starting the turnaround of the Hawkeyes program with a devastating hit on a kick return by MSU in 2000. First Big Ten win for KF. Still remember watching the reply on the big screen and Kinnick giving a louder "ooooooooooooh" each time they showed it.

Greene getting stuffed on 4th and 1 in 2008.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

I was at that game and couldn't figure out that play call at all.

Fortunately I was at the game next year which more than made up for 2008.

There was the "Flex your muscles" dunk vs Michigan State in Basketball in Carver circa 2007ish? Stevie Boy even flexed and Carver was going NUTS!...

Wrong sport but still a fun moment to be a part of

The Doug Thomas thunder dunk in 06?

As for Futbal, I'll go with Mcnutt's GW, Donahue's 82 yard punt,

but Sashes lateral to Hyde was probably the best play I've ever seen live. The was the last game I had been to until this year.

7 got 6 will always be one of my favorite Hawkeye memories. That, Daniel Murray to beat PSU in '08, and this years win vs ISU (loss of Sash and Roy made that really special) will be some of my favorite Iowa memories.
