FBI investigating Hunter Biden 'laptop story' as being part of foreign intelligence operation

You have no idea how these things work.

The Adventures of Pluto Nash movie grossed $7.1mil worldwide. Eddie Murphy was paid $20mil to star in it. Do the math, clearly Eddie Murphy is beholden to a foreign government, then, right?
If you’re trying to say that publishers have to make bets, and some pay off and some don’t, that is of course true.

The thing is nobody ever buys these politic memoirs but yet the advances are still strong. Andrew Cuomo’s “All Things Possible” sold a measly 2500 copies but he still got a $5M deal for his next book “America Crisis” which sold less than 50,000 copies.

There are countless examples of this.

Lol tell us how much Amazon makes per book then?

The products we sell on Amazon are stocked in their DCs and they make 25-30%. Just to pay for their distribution network and their overhead Amazon needs to make 10-15% just to break even.
Amazon's "take" on books is 15%

You can believe that, or look it up yourself.

So, if Biden got a comparable $5M advance, he's made roughly $5M on sales.

Which is pretty much the number posted already.

15% of the sale is “not much”? Ok.

Keep going…the publisher, the distributor etc all get “not much”. Let’s be generous and say that the author royalties on a book like this are 30%. We are a long way from $33M in sales to break even on $10M to Biden. Only about $24M short, I guess.

First of all, he got a $10M advance. Second of you just admitted the retailer gets 15% of the retail sale. Plus many others along the supply chain.

WTF are you babbling about?

Royalties on sales can be up to 60% or higher; depends on what you negotiate with the publisher.

$33M in sales would easily net Biden 2x that $10M you keep quoting.

No, there are "no others" along the Amazon supply chain.
There is the publisher, the author and Amazon.

Please try to keep up.

Biden sold about 300,000 copies of his book. We will use the release date hard cover cost of $30 even though it is much cheaper now.

300,000 x $30 is $9M, well short of Joe’s advance. As I have pointed out, there is cost in producing, distributing and selling the book which this doesn’t even account for.

$30M is what they would need to break even at 30% royalty, $16M in your assumption of 60% royalty.

This is latest deal Stephen King is shopping. He is trying to get 26% royalties. And you think Biden was getting 60%??

Industry sources say King is seeking an advance that exceeds the $15 million to $16 million per book paid under his now-expired contract with Viking, already one of the richest deals around. Moreover, the sources add, King wants an unusually high royalty rate--26% of gross sales, compared with the standard rate of 15%--and will not commit himself beyond “Bag of Bones.”

Who does Stephen King think he is, Joe Biden???

Do retailers make any money in your scenario? How about freight and distribution? Also free? Does it cost anything to manufacture a book or is that free? Did they pay the ghostwriter, photographer, graphic designer? Did the publisher advance Joe millions of dollars just to break even?

This is not a R or D thing. Every politician “writes a book” before they start a campaign and it’s not a coincidence.

In Joe’s case the former mayor of Boston bought several thousand copies.
You truly are ignorant on so many topics.

Do you think you are doing anything except showing your ass in this thread?
Do you think you're proving anything in this thread?

If Biden got a cushy advance, that's just being an astute businessman.
Had Trump done this, you'd be dancing around and crowing about it.

So you you think Joe Biden is getting 60% royalties, when one of the most successful authors in a generation is trying to get a groundbreaking deal that would get him 26%?

So you think Amazon picks up books from a publisher, ships them to their DC, holds that inventory until it is sold, assumes risk of loss, packs and ships that book 2nd day UPS, maintains and advertises their web site along with the rest of their SG&A, manages returns, all for only 15% of the sale? And you think Biden gets 60%?

Your boy is corrupt. It’s ok to admit it. Trump is corrupt too. Bigly. The point is that we shouldn’t tolerate or defend it.

I think you're all over the map here, and have no idea how book deals work.
