Fear mongering

Hysteria feeds recession. And news outlets play a role in whipping up the frenzy.

In the last week I've heard news outlets report that the tariffs will increase car prices $3,000.

Then $6,000.

Then yesterday $8,000.

This morning an outlet said as much as $10,000.
This is what you voted for three times and still support. Thanks.

Well, I'm sure it depends on the price of the car before the tariff.

Would you rather stumble around eyes wide shut? Stuff is going to get more expensive.

Of course Trump has nothing to do with the uncertainty. His tariffs going up and up and up has nothing to do with the news reporting car prices getting higher and higher. Maybe if he stopped increasing tariffs the prices speculated in the media would stay stable. Just a thought.

An arsonist set a house on fire in plain daylight. He is standing in the street pointing at the burning wreck with pride saying “I did that”. And here you are blaming the people who called 911.

Can somebody explain why we should not have reciprocal tariffs on Canada that match the following tariffs that they already had in place on us? I have family in the dairy business, and they are so happy something is being done to point a light on this "friends" exisiting trade war on our businesses.

  • Milk: 270%
  • Cheese: 245%
  • Butter: 298%
  • Chicken: 238%
  • Eggs: 163%
  • Sausages: 69.9%
  • Barley Seed: 57%
  • Wheat: 94%
  • Cars: 45%
  • Consumer Electronics (e.g., TVs): 45%
  • Steel: 25%
  • Aluminum: 45%
  • Copper: 48%

Remember the news outlet hysteria when Clinton/Obama/Biden were in office? The world was supposedly coming to an end each time and republicans couldn't save us fast enough with their replacement. How has that worked out?

Clinton and Obama had two of the better economies we've ever had. Well... only if you go by the numbers. What was the steady messaging from conservative media during those periods of time? Calm and sensible, right?

You're asking this to the same people that think we should paying for contraception in other countries.

Those dairy tariffs you listed were (a) agreed to by the Trump administration when NAFTA was renegotiated into USMCA, (b) have never been applied, (c) only kick in when certain annual import volume thresholds have been exceeded, and (d) are necessary because U.S. dairy producers like your family are highly subsidized, giving them an unfair advantage over Canadian producers. They are in place to prevent the good ole U S of A from flooding the Canadian market with cheap product.

They don't have anything to run on right now but to throw shit at the wall.

The market gives them a talking point. If you haven't figured it out, the dem platform is that the boogeyman is always around the corner.
Yes, Donald Trump & the GOP have never fear mongered or said how shitty the country has become. LOL

You would have to want to honestly understand the role of protectionist tariffs to grasp the situation.

The problem with that was Canada self imposed a limit to never give us a full allotment while never triggering the tax.

And they were called out for it.

How bout this, you panic all day, and I'll hang out, and in a few weeks when we are back to running smooth and the entire trade structure has been adjusted we can go get a beer and laugh?
it's weird that people think global trade can be unilaterally rewritten and that everything will be back and running smooth in a couple of weeks...

even if you think trump's actions are going to completely reform how global trade operates - you think that's a process that only takes a few weeks?

you can't really think that...if you did, i don't know how you would function as an adult in the world

Apparently FOX is in on it:

"The Anderson Economic Group released an analysis that found the tariffs on imported vehicles and auto parts would raise the cost of the cheapest American cars by an additional $2,500 to $5,000, with some imported models seeing a price hike of up to $20,000. It estimated that the total impact on consumers in the first full year would be $30 billion."

The stuff you called fear mongering 6 months ago turned out to not only not be fear-mongering, but was actually a rosier prediction than what actually has happened. I don't know how many times you people are going to have to have the dildo of consequences rammed up your ass before you start listening, but it doesn't seem like it will be anytime soon.

Looking forward to it.
Haha. I am thinking I don’t even want to hear it because we could be on the stern of the Titanic as it is sinking and you would say all is well…and I think this because of the interactions we have had regarding Signal messages and the current stock market. Yesterday you said hey it’s up, now it is undeniably cratering and you say no big deal. In other words your analysis means nothing…

JFC.

I have yet to see a single Nazi doing anything and WW3 hasn't started yet contrary to popular belief.

"what is this going to do to egg prices?" Eggs are down 5 bucks.

What is this going to do for gas prices.. gas is cheaper than it's been in 6 months.

We dropped 500 points a week or so ago and you nancies were talking about a great depression. Have some Fortitude.

It started down yesterday and ended up. This sint going to be a great mark on his report card. Eggs are down 5 bucks, immigration is down 95%, gas is as cheap as it was before the holidays.

There will be multiple aspects addressed.

He is also going to get an F regarding the Epstien files as of right now.

Looking forward to it.
