There was a Chicago shooting early Monday morning after a concealed carry license holder opened fire at would-be robbers in Lawndale, CPD said.
CHICAGO (WLS) -- Three teenagers were injured on the West Side early Monday morning when a concealed carry license holder opened fire on would-be robbers, Chicago police said.

A 56-year-old man was in his vehicle in the 4700-block of West Arthington Street in Lawndale just before 6 a.m., when a vehicle with three male teenagers approached, CPD said.

One of the teens got out of the vehicle, pointed a gun at the victim and demanded his belongings, police said.

A struggle ensued before the victim, a FOID and CCL holder, pulled out his weapon and fired several rounds, according to CPD.

The suspect vehicle tried to drive away, but crashed nearby.

The 15- to 18-year-old driver of that vehicle was shot in the head, and taken to Mt. Sinai hospital in critical condition.

A second teen about the same age was found several blocks away with a gunshot wound to the shoulder. He was taken to Stroger hospital in serious condition.

A third teen, who was in the backseat of the suspect vehicle, suffered a broken leg in the crash, and was taken to a local hospital in fair condition, police said.

The man was not hurt.

No one should feel good about a licensed gun owner who is that poor of a shot.
When did we, as Americans, start accepting failure as feeling good?

Concealed carry means his background was checked and his application to carry a firearm was approved. This is how it should be IMO. Assuming the reported facts hold up, no problem whatsoever using his weapon in this circumstance. Might have saved his life.

It's pretty hard to argue against shooting someone who points a gun at you. And I say that as a person who owns a single gun that I inherited and probably doesn't even fire.

I don’t feel good about anyone getting shot and hurt or even killed. I don’t feel good about anyone getting hurt or killed, period. I think they deserved to get shot and an outcome they should’ve considered, but I’m not pumped they got shot. This is like gun porn to people and it’s likely because we’re so desensitized to gun violence that people think gun violence is fun and cool and a good thing.

Only thing I feel good about is the innocent is unhurt.

Concealed Carrier Shoots Two Suspects during Attempted Car Theft in Chicago

A concealed carry holder shot two men in Chicago amid what appeared to be a car robbery attempt, according to police.

The victim was walking to his car in the heart of Chicago’s Loop around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday when a suspect fired shots at him from a red SUV. The man returned fire, causing the SUV to flee. A second suspect who was inside the victim’s parked car exited the vehicle and fled as well. The suspects left behind a tool and a phone near the victim’s car, police said.

The victim was uninjured.

One of the suspects, a 26-year-old man, sought treatment at Northwestern Memorial Hospital for a gunshot wound to his knee minutes after the shooting, CWB Chicago reported. He abandoned a red Jeep riddled with bullet holes at the hospital emergency bay. Two ammunition magazines were found roughly 20 feet from the Jeep.

A second suspect, a 24-year-old man, sought treatment at Lurie Children’s Hospital for a gunshot wound to his right buttock.

Both men are in police custody while receiving care for their injuries. Police said they are looking for a third offender.

The shooting comes after another concealed carry holder shot three people who attempted to rob him as he sat in his car in Chicago last week. An adult and two juveniles have been charged in connection with that attempted robbery.

Earlier this month, a business owner in the city shot a suspect who broke through his office’s back door while he was working.

Lawndale neighborhood, childhood home of Isiah Thomas, Kevin Garnett, Harold Ramis and Benny Goodman.

Very disappointing to hear of teenagers being shot, but their victim had every right to defend himself.

Nothing about this is heartwarming or feel good. Literally nothing.
Do you think carjackers getting shot deters any carjackers at all?

I recall a survey of incarcerated burglars, and they were over 3x as concerned about armed homeowners as they were the police.

If carjacking was a 50/50 chance of getting shot in the face I think there would be a lot less carjacking.

I wonder if Chicagoans could appreciate this aftermarket defroster sold in South Africa:

I think carjackers getting shot deters carjackings, yes.

That doesn't make anything posted a "feel good story".
