Feeling better after tonight's game.

Came over as an IU fan in peace, but maybe this is why your program hasn't won a BIG title since 1979. Our fans would be disgusted after the "run" you guys have been on and demand better. Granted, most of us, myself included, know we aren't anywhere near where we used to be, but our expectations have never changed. Anyway, just an observation

Maybe you didn't see the "run" Iowa was on from 06-11.

We aren't happy but this is the best IA has looked in a month. IU shot out of their minds. Yes IA gave up way too many 2nd chance points and missed easy shots and layups but I feel positive vibes they can go on a run, starts with Jok being 100%?

IU shot out of their minds and we still should have won. Bench is back. Williams and Wagner played great. Jok is no where close to himself coming off an illness. Bring the same fight Saturday they beat Michigan and get momentum back.
Iu shot lay ups and wide open 3's. It's not tough too shoot that well when you are shown 0 resistance.

Half of them at least were tough 3s they are tough to guard with the speed and play makers they have.

Once again goes back to recruiting. Iowa recruits these tall lanky players, but no speed. Iowa has to be the slowest team in the Big Ten. Last night watching their "off the ball" movement was so slow. No wonder they can't get open. Jok is probably our best option getting open and he can't even get open.

IU's offense was moving and guys were cutting hard and with a purpose. Personally it looked like IU wanted it more. I agree with the poster who said they were shooting it well, but it is easy to make shots when you don't guard. Beifledt knocking 2 3's killed Iowa. Yogi had at least 2-3 shots that were WIDE OPEN. You don't guard, don't expect to win.

We had a stretch of Defense during the comeback in the second half that looked a lot more like what we saw in the first half of the B1G. It was excellent. Otherwise their 3's were wide open, as they have been for most teams recently who just happened to shoot 'lights out' and have some guy who never makes 3's make multiples against us.

It all starts with defense and rebounding, and we need to find it. We might actually benefit from playing a team that hasn't really scouted us in the tourney.

Don't know how you can feel better about this game. Again Iowa plays like a bad D3 team in last 4 minutes. This team is playing like it just wants to lose three more games and be done for the season because I can't see a win on the schedule the way they are playing right now.

While they looked better at times offensively than they had of late, the defense remained a mess. Once again they showed the puzzling trait of being poor on the perimeter and in the paint simultaneously.

Crean, even though he should have been pushed back multiple times or given a technical for being on the court, showed more movement than our offense and defense for most of the game. I saw at least 3 times when Crean impeded the officials ability to move freely down the sideline and once where I thought he was in the way of a player. In football, they give sideline warnings and then penalties for this, why not basketball?

I know you come in peace but let me know what you guys think if you play Syracuse in the NCAA anytime soon.

We will never win squat when you got guards that can t create a center who can' t jump. It said it all about Uthoff when he stated this was just another game and yes I will be glad when gesell is gone. Nobody guards him at end of game because he can t hit the 3 pointer. Fran needs to pull his head out of his butt and keep the players in that got the lead. To me jok is scared of contact

The only thing I see different about this performance vs other recent results was we showed a bit of fight late in the game. Otherwise, it's the same garbage.

When the opponent is consistently shooting great against you, the problem is you, not just "one of those nights."

I would agree with you, except for the fact that we had IU players tightly guarded and they still drained 4 straight 3 pt shots in one segment that I remember bitching about. We were right on them. But the B#@$&ds still made the shots. What can you do??

Side note, I did like Christian Williams' reach and quickness on defense. The guy is going to prove to be an asset if he picks it up. Tough to shoot over, tough to pass around(especially when they pickup their dribble) and great rebounding skills. If he improves, he will be a fun one to watch.

Iowa's two little pgs Clemmons and Gesell are not tall and lanky nor quick. The last 3pt shot by Yogi, Gesell played off him at 3pt line because he is not quick enough to stick with Yogi....so yogi backed up and stroke an open 3 over top of Gesell.

Woody was too slow to stick with Bielfeldt and Fran needed to bring in Wagner to defend. The defense got a lot better with Gesell, Woodbury on the bench and Wagner and CW out there.

Indiana is good, but if Tom Crean has figured out how to carve your defense up, then the rest of B1G has too. Fran has to re-examine who he plays and what he asks them to do. All this trapping/double teaming has led to open 3s. Woody is not a shot blocker and Indiana got to the rim with ease vs Iowa zone.

Why CW has not played more this season, that is a puzzle. He showed more in 1 game then Ellingson did all season.

I agree. When Woodbury sat for extended minutes and we went (if memory serves) with Wagner, Uhl, Williams, Uthoff , and Clemmons, we started giving Indiana problems on both ends. Williams, Uthof, and Wagner all missed bunnies during a stretch, but at least we got some second chances and didn't give up 2-3 possessions to Indiana.
