Ferentz era all-time 2-deeps

One guy's take. I'm sure there's some positions where people will largely disagree, but I like this team. Curious what substitutions people would make.

WR: McNutt, Brown
SE: Hinkel, DJK
WR note, I'm trying to put deep threats on one and hands guys in the slot

LT: Gallery, Scherff
LG: Steinbach, Olsen
C: Nelson, Blythe
RG: Yanda, Vandervelde
RT: Bulaga, Reiff
(OL disclaimer, I don't know much about the OL, or whether these alignments are realistic, so sue me)

QB: Banks, Stanzi
FB: Busch, Cervantes
RB: Greene, Russell
Backup QB and RB two of the hardest on this list to choose

DE: Roth, Ott
DE: Clayborn, Kampman
DT: Babineux, Cole
DT: King, Daniels
Note: Wow

OLB: Greenway, Edds
OLB: Hitchens, Jewell
MLB: Hodge, Angerer

CB: King, Johnson

SS: Sanders, Pagel
FS: Sash, Considine (Sean was great but Sash had a nose for the ball unlike any other in this era)

K: Kaeding, Schlicher
P: Baker, Bradley
R: Kasper, Hill
Note on returners: I just used this slot to give honorable mention to a couple receivers who missed out

Jewell is not an outside LB.

Let's make this a community effort! I'm only factoring posts that had a complete 2-deep, otherwise I'd have to make assumptions to fill gaps and I don't want to do that. Special Teams weren't always included, so I just counted those who had them. I gave 2 points for a starter and 1 for backup. If slots were shared, the points were shared. If more than two deep were given, they were ignored. Here's where we stand through greenLite's.

WR: McNutt 9, DJK 7, Hinkel 6, Kasper 3, Brown 2, Hill/Solomon/Douglas 1
T: Gallery 11, Bulaga 8, Scherff 6, Reiff 4, Calloway 1
G: Yanda 10, Steinbach 9, Olsen/Scherff 3, Vandervelde 2, Reiff/Eubanks/McMahon 1
C: Nelson 8, Daniels 4, Blythe 2, Ferentz(J) 1
QB: Banks 8, Beathard 3, Stanzi 2, Tate 2
TE: Clark 8, Moeaki 2, Fiedorowicz/Kittle/Myers 1
FB: Busch 5, Allen 4, Cervantes 3, Weismann 2, Plewa 1
RB: Greene 8, Betts 2, Wadley 1.5, Russell 1, Lewis .5

DE: Roth/Clayborn 10, Kampmann 5, Ott 4, Ballard 1
DT: Babineaux 10, King 7.5, Cole 4, Daniels 3, Johnson/Klug 1.5, Clauss/Kroul 1, Pickens .5
LB: Greenway 10, Angerer 9, Hitchens 7, Hodge 5.5, Kirksey 5, Edds 4/Jewell 4, Barr .5
CB: King 10, Spievey 8, Hyde/Johnson 4, Godfrey 3, Sapp/Fletcher .5
S: Sanders 10, Sash 8, Considine 7, Pagel 2, Sash/Paschal 1 Greenwood 2

K: Kaeding 8, Schlicher 3, Meyer 1
P: Baker/Donahue 5, Bradley 2
RET: Hill/DJK 3, Kasper/King 2, Jones 1

Maybe so. But I want him on my team and that's where I have a place for him.
The real flaw in your system is that Iowa has 2 inside backers and 1 outside backer. Jewell and Bower are inside backers and Niemann is an outside backer. You have plenty of room for Jewell.

I know there's a difference, but I'm dumb to all that. I just put up some linebackers, OK? I mean for crying out loud, I'm not even the first guy who put Jewell at OLB.

There, I just combined the LB and S on the combined list so y'all can get off my back.

Put up a two deep and I'll get your vote added!

Mike Daniels > Babineaux
Put yours up and get your vote counted. Personally, I disagree. If you want to factor NFL careers, well Daniels has about half the number of years Babs had so we'll see. In their times at Iowa, I think Babs was better. I went searching for stats on the pair, but the websites I found apparently don't have defensive stats back that far. Anyone got any leads? I can get Daniels' stats just fine.

Mitch King was the Big Ten defensive lineman of the year. Dude absolutely dominated at times.
I understand...great player, put up big numbers...thats why we loved him.

Also undersized and part of some dLines that got pushed around at time. We're talking 2 deeps over a long period of times, and some real talent over that period of time
